Got the version numbers confused for new purchase.

I am new to Trainz, having only just discovered it.

I am about to purchase a new UK copy of Trainz but there are version numbers all over the place and some retailers seem to be selling me old ones. Does anybody know the up to date current version of Trainz that I should look for or whether it is possible to download it?

Oh, I am in the UK and on semi-decent broadband.

Many thanks :)

Hi and welcome to Trainz :) ,

I suggest taking a look at this website:
http://www.simulatorcentral.com/
That is the webshop related to this forum and the producers of the Trainz series.

The current latest PC version of the game is called TANE. The previous one is called TS12 (or Trainz 12 if you like).

A quick addition to the above. The current UK price is approx £30. I am concerned that my three year old laptop may not cope with it. My graphics is an InteL onboard device so not terriblY powerful ! I can run the trainz demo without a problem but I assume that is much less demanding than the new version and it's a lot of money to 'gamble' on being able to run it

My laptop is an HP Pavilion 'G' SERIES.

Any thoughts?

You'll probably be able to run Trainz 12 on that laptop, as long as you turn the graphics settings down a bit. I previously ran TS12 on a Samsung laptop with an I3, 3GB of RAM and integrated graphics, it wasn't the smoothest experience ever, but was perfectly acceptable. It's unlikely that you'll be able to run T:ANE (Trainz: A New Era), which requires a 64bit OS and a good DirectX 11 compatible graphics card.
