(Heed Warning! 1024x768 Screenshots!)
Hello, I've currently been working up a Storm on a Coastal 30NG route, where a Coal Mine on the Opposite side of a Shallow Sea is Using Trainz to Deliver Coal to the Highly Valued Power Plant on the Opposite Shore, Amongst a Bustling Village.
This Route is MAINLY for Use with Ben Neal's 30NG Steam Locos & Rolling Stock, but other 760mm Trainz on the DLS can be used too. It is Fictitious, but Running Dual 2-8-2s in a Consist of 20+ Gondolas, and Switching those Cars about in the Yard with Bulky Tank Engines is all Great Fun.
Knowing some of you are now Interested, I've provided multiple Screenshots of the Route in Progress. It Is NOT On the DLS, but Will be as Soon as the Line is Complete, and Auran Okays it...
There's the Overview of the Main Yard at the Two Small Coal Mines.
Here is another View, this time of the Elevated Trackage, and the Engine Sheds. One of Ben's 2-8-2s is Sitting out on the A-Frame Turntable whilst the Other Two Mikados stay inside, and Four Tank Engines are Crowded into the Two Garlsdale Sheds.
Here's the Elevated Track crossing Over the End of the Yard, where the Mainline Starts onward, and Spans Three Trestles and Pokes through the Tunnel in the Distance.
Beyond the 1st Tunnel, There's another Trestle not Seen, and the Line goes through ANOTHER Tunnel, and pops out here, Where the Track Loops itself on the Coastline. Tight Radii you Say? It's actually not that Bad. The 2-8-2s Navigate it with ease...
Beyond the Loop, a Low Trestle turns away from the Coast, and Back into the Mountains through a Tunnel. Then, the Line Opens up into a Small Lake. Here, a Pin-Connected Truss Makes quick work of a Minor Depression in the Ground, and a Major Curving Fill Works its way around the Water, Hugging against the Hillside. (Yes, That IS another Trestle in the Distance!)
NOW, for the Awesome part. Beyond the Truss & Fill, and Technically Next to the Coal Mines, (Albeit MUCH Lower,) the Track Curves to the Right, and Sports a MASSIVE, Smooth Curving Trestle, supported by Fills on both Ends, that Stretches across the Conveniently Shallow Seaway, onto a Minor Group of Rough Islands... Really Awesome to run a Coal Train over that Piece of Work!
Here, quite Simply, the Line Navigates in Bulbous Loops in and Around the Islands, Haphazardly Making it's Way towards the Opposite Shore.
Here's the Last Screen to Date, which shows the Only Tall Viaduct on the Line, being a Curved little Beast with Rail Only Track added to make it work out.
So YESH! That's the Golde Coast Railway to Date! More Screenies will come soon as Progress Continues!
