Going to buy TS2009, got some Qs

I plan on buying Trainz 2009, but I have some questions first.

Is this a good version to go for:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trainz-Simulator-2009-PC-DVD/dp/B00264GMYG

What about World Builders Edition and Engineers Edition?

Also content from trainz 2004 on the DLS, if I buy TS2009 will I have access to old content after doomsday comes in September?

If old content does not work in TS2009 would fixing it involve a bit of tinkering in the config file?

I assume my PC spec will run TS2009 well (Anti alias and that sort of thing):
Custom built in 2007:
XP Home sp3
Intel Core2 duo E6550 2.33GHz
RAM 2GB
Nvidia 9800GT 512MB
320GB HDD

I know the recommened system specs but things may be different in reality (flight sim X you needed a super computer to run that, but the system specs were low)

Thank you :)

I haven't been around for a while (been wasting time with railworks)

Firstly, the version shown on the link looks like the Just Trains edition - nothing wrong with it, but you will need to visit http://www.justtrains.net/faqs.asp?drdProduct=205#FAQ644 to download the first service pack for it. Once you have the first service pack, patching will be as it is for other versions of TS2009 (basically, Trainz will prompt when a patch is available)

Secondly, in terms of the specs, it is worth (where possible) running a system that exceeds the recommended specs - I'm not sure on the graphics card, but the memory may be a bit low to run Trainz for long periods of time.

Thirdly, most content from earlier versions of Trainz can be fixed using tools like PM2IM, Images2TGA, or manual editing of the config files.

Is that the one where you have to keep the disk in the drive when you want to play? I would go for a direct from Auran sale.

yes

That depends on how much it needs fixing.

Looks like a decent system, not a super computer but adequate.

Welcome back

hiya
I have this version and have had no problems with it at all and you dont have to have the disk in the drive.

cheers bob

Why waste your money on TS2009 when TS2010 is the later and better version. I have used both and TS2010 is by far the best.

Another vote for TS2010. It is basically TS2009 anyway...... but better. Plus it will be supported longer.

If you can afford to download 4gig. I would buy it online.

I am pretty sure that the "Just Trains" version requires the CD to be in the CD drive while playing the game. (I could be wrong though)

Regards
