can one loan key for gmax so I can upgrade my *.gmax to 3ds

Anyone out there willing to loan his or her gmax key so I can activate again my old gmax (it asks for a key which i have no clue after 6 years where to find).
I still have some nice gmax models and ims I want to upgrade to 3ds. The current *.gmax files 3ds not reckon.
Is there another way to get my old files up and running on 3ds??
Can we expect this year a trainz plugin for 3ds max 2011??

thanks for any reply

Roy

G'day joosten,

Iceman's solution will undoubtedly work for you but if look through the list of folders in your Gmax installation, you should find one of them is called "Reginfo". Inside that folder is a file of the same name which is a *.txt file that contains all the relevant registration information for your copy of Gmax...

WIP. Haven't decided if I want it to be a 2-6-0 or a 2-8-0.

I should note that this model was completely "eyeballed" - that is, no blueprints.:)

installed but still asked for reg user ID code

hi, ...

GmaX can load for Free here.
Key is inclusive ...

thanks ( vielen dank!!!)

installed it but not see anywhere a key or code. Makes me look stupid :hehe: well maybe I am at least I know...
It shows the same window welcome to gmax and you have to register at an unknown old location..
Jerker thanks too for that info and yes I did not locate the reginfo file/folder on the newly installed gmax nor the old gamx...
This is not my day right?:'(

Ice or should I call you Otzy? Are you familiar with Dosch 3D and or are you using that stuff or working with or related too? Is mighty good and wonder if it would work to export objects from Dosch 3D via 3ds max and trainz eporter to make an *.im file.
I tried one example but run short of Trainz exporter barking and obstructing where it says "Material xxx name is invalid. materials should be named and have a 'm' material type suffix.
Just wonder if someone out there experimented with this too.

thanks for the replies and have a nice day

Roy;)

G'day joosten..

Quoting from the Turbosquid Gmax Registration Policy page, which is reached by clicking on the link below the download link on the same page to which Iceman directed you earlier..

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, MS Sans Serif][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, MS Sans Serif]..."...New gmax users must visit www.discreet.com/products/gmax/register using each machine from which they intend to run gmax, and complete the on-line web registration process..."..

...which I have always understood to be the case. I double checked and I was definitely not imagining the presence of the folder. It is always possible, of course, Roy, that it doesn't 'exist' until you register, as above...

...clicking the above link, will, in fact, lead you to the registration page...
