GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

Hi, It's the noob Ozzie again,
I've taken the advise given here and I'm in the process of going through the 3DSMax tutorials.
I looked at a site "World of Trainz" and this person indicates that 3DSMax offers an export option directly into Trainz in ".im" format.
I don't see that option in Max. I'm using the 2008 program, and I realize the World of Trainz info was written a couple years back.
Maybe someone can bring me up to snuff, that is the present stage of working with 3DSMax, 2008, and Trainz 2006/2009. Is there a plug-in I need?
Many thanks for your help and patience,
Ozzie
By the way, some great work being displayed here!!!!

Hi Ice,

Well, that certainly brings back memories from the past. Apart from the cleaning they where often used on very hot summers to cool the bridges to prevent them expanding too much so they wouldn't open anymore.:hehe:
Very nice model, over here the tank was a pale green colour btw.

Greetings from sunny Amsterdam,

Jan

hi, Jan

Thanks for Comments.
Amsterdam is nice, I are often in Nunspeed Weluwe Isle meer.
I love the Netherlands Esprit.

to DAF Tank,...
The Tank its not the finish Tank.
I think a well-rounded hexagonal tank in the same color as the cab will probably be.
I will be once again a picture of it here in the thread represent.

You'll need to register at TrainzDevand then download the exporters from there. To find them go to the wiki then go downloads then download the file maxexporters.rar

In there you will find a set of 3DSMax 2k8 exporters.

Just a note though. Although some have had some success at exporting them to TRS06, many have had them not work properly. They have been designed for TS2009, and have some stuff in there that doesn't always agree with TRS04-TC3 I guess. I had some luck with them, but had only exported a single asset at that stage, and it was with an early version of the exporter.

Still working with Blender's mirror modifier on one quarter only, so loads of bits aren't in the right place yet, but this is a week's work so far (it would have taken me about 3 months in Gmax:o ):

I can't get it working in trainz, none of the Booleaned parts or the parts I've converted to editable meshes show up.

Same story with this one.

I'm having trouble finding anything but the most basic info about creating content.
I'm learning 3DSMax, but where do I find all of the info about the details of creating sophisticated content, sounds, animation, timing, etc.? I have 2006 and 2009.
Thanks,
Ozzie

Hi Ozzie

If you haven't already got it, your first stop should be the Auran Content Creation Guide. Links to the guides for 06 and TC can be found in this thread:
