Mr. Picky-Picky...

 AC, your Autocar is monstrously overloaded! Since most 18 wheelers(5-axles) only haul two coils, I don't know if you could haul even 1 legally on a ten-wheeler. Better check out one of the new Cat scales!:hehe:

MAGLEVSX, your drums look nice, but if your modeling a 55-gallon steel drum, they're about 4-feet tall & have two ribs that divide the drum in thirds...the bands prevent the sides from buckling & allow lift by chain, so that if the drum flops over, it won't escape the chain.

The drum empty weight is 52lbs with the top, not counting the band-clamps for removable lids. The full drum of petroleum products(grease, oil, Diesel fuel), holds 400lb of product, total 452lbs.

Thanks for the info!
I was not really trying to copy an exact drum I was just messing around with Raytrace and a plugin a found...

But still thanks!

Thanks to Paul Hobbs' excellent tutorials, I'm starting to get to grips with Blender:

Although it's quite a challenge to move from Gmax over to Blender I'm slowly starting to get the hang of it and finding a lot of things where Blender has the edge. The mirror modelling in particular is a revelation, compared with how I used to do things.

I thought I'd start off with something I'd already made in Gmax, just to compare. The above mesh is completely new (not imported) and it's taken around two days to get to this point.

And now for something completely different,

Schiphol 1935, one of the new engines has arrived for the DC-2 Uiver. Made ready to enter the Melbourne race.

And yes Paul's blender tutoials are inspiring. :)

In the works a Henschel DH-360/500 B industrial diesel-hydraulic loco in use at the former Hoogovens, now Corus, iron and steel manufactoring complex near Velsen, the netherlands. This is in fact a kind of kit engine where the ordering industry can specify traction capacity (360/500), axel arrangement, 2 with 1 blind (B), 3 with 1 blind at one end (Ca) or 3 with 1 blind between the second and third axle (Ci). All with the same cab arrangement. Don't hold your breath though, I've never made an engine for trainz before, so this will take some time. ;) ( both blender btw.)

Greetings from nighttime Amsterdam,

Jan

Lots of very impressive modeling going on in here I see. I haven't been very active in the Trainz community as of late, but that is quickly changing. As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words...

Pay no attention to the boiler and coal tender -- those are from the original version of the GMAM I released nearly seven(!!) years ago. They do stand in nicely for now, however. At the same time, they really contrast to how much I've learned over the past few years, as well as improvements to the exporters.

The poly counts are really scary at the moment--the drivers are nearing 17 thousand polys alone  Still, this is not seven years ago (I'm running an Athlon 64X2 dual-core processor, compared with when I started, on a Celeron 667... how times have changed!)
