GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

The most noticeable difference between the GP50 and GP 60 is the dynamic brake blisters. The GP60's dynamic brake blisters have a more square look to them. That was the only locomotive I know of that used them. There is other smaller differences if you know were to look but that is the easiest to spot.

This +1. That is the fastest way to pick a GP60 out from any other geep. Of course there is the internal difference that GP50's used 645's and GP60's used 12-710's. As far as ES44AC's and DC's, well its the numbers, and the fact the DC is a DC traction motor and an ES44AC uses an AC Traction motor.

Which sadly isn't much of a visual difference, at least not really enough to tell the difference. With NS and CSX (definitely) and occasionally BNSF and UP, I can tell you what the unit is just off the number. Unless of course it's a genset. I can't memorize all those designations for those units.

And besides that, to me, one genset doesn't look any different from another genset which doesn't look different from horse crap, at least in my eyes...

I'm not a huge genset fan.

Gensets admittedly look kind of wierd, but I rarely like a patched SP engine, or any fallen flag for that matter. The only ones i remotely like are BNSF's ex-ATSF and ex-BN units, since they did not do it in some other wierd color, but kept it true with the current paint. That GP50 looks very nice, save for that ugly yellow rectangle. Seems your like me with steam engines, give me a number and if i know of it then I'll tell ye all i know of the engine in question.

blaaaah i hate the way up puts a huge ugly yellow square over the old numbers/letters and paints their logo on it. its like they are trying to deny the existance of their predecessors and the fallen flags that they brutally murdered with bankruptcy.

this is why i am 1970/80s diesel fan, and don't like modern trains(that much).

but if i could go back in any time any where to railfan, but only for a day. i would go to Sacramento ca. in the 1940s to railfan the cab forwards.

It's more they're identifying the loco they now own and operate

Good, those Austerities have been begging for a rebuild. I've wanted to but had no drawings. Well done sir.

Thanks mate, although most, if not all of my models don`t see the light. I`ll do what I can do with this and maybe I`ll ask for some help sometime! Also, where can I find the bogeys for this?

Also, thanks for being the first person to not look away as soon as he realised that the above is modeled in Sketchup! And for the woried guys: Yes! I`ll import it to Blender later! Ya happy now? :o

There are bogies available for the Hunslet Austerity/50500 class/LNER J94 available by Decapod. on the DLS if you search J94.

Hey, no hard feelings there, if you work them right in Blender then SketchUp models are great. It's just about who the middleman is. Take my advice, when you're ready to import to Blender, add spotlights above, below, ahead, behind, and to both sides of the model, move them quite far away, put the AO on a factor of 1(Multiply) and bake full render for your textures. Unless you don't like AO, of course, then you delete that step. That's the only way to get colors from SketchUp into Trainz that I've found, and works really well too. Just be wary of visible seams, they love creeping in on you.

Oh I love AO! Cant live without it! :P
Also, yes the seams are really annoying. Is it because I use the "Smart UV Project" option?

Early import to Blender. Its not yet complete. If I`m doing something wrong, feel free to shout it out for me, before I mess things up even more!

Looks fine to me. And no, Smart UV project is one of the better ways to avoid them. If you just exported from SketchUp to Blender and just hit ctrl+P instead of using Smart UV project, it'd be a lot worse, I learned the hard way. Another good thing is to use Project from View, then you can have things like the cab wall and roof seamless, and only a seam on top and bottom of the boiler, rather than the 5 or so that will appear by using only Smart UV Project. It's about getting away with as little as possible, you can never get out of them completely but Smart UV Project and Project from View are the best two methods.

Untextured, but at least it's in game!

This K5LA it textured however.

What would be a "good" polygon number? I don`t want to tax other people`s systems so much!:hehe:

Depends on what your making... The TrainzDev wiki gives some rough quidelines, although these days their numbers are a bit on the low side.
