GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

Were the bricks really that large on the building itself? They look normal sized on the chimney, but other than that it looks AMAZING!

Oh and Thanks!

Maybe a little big, but not by much. If anything, the chimney bricks are considerably too small!

The loco that he's makeing is a CN C44-9W

Not to mention that he's already said it's supposed to be an AC440cw; but the Radiator is wrong for it to be a CN Dash 9...
Although for that matter the radiator is wrong for it to be an AC440cw as well, in fact the radiator modeled isn't like any prototypical radiator I've seen.

simulatortrain, was that comment to me?

G'day Matt3985,

...you wrote...

..."...Wow thats the best looking Depot Ive ever seen in Trainz. Great job montanawestren..."...

...with which I would like to disagree. Certainly, the work by "montanawestren" is well done, although I would recommend that he looks into rescaling his brick texture (at the moment, they are far too large for the building) but there are much better 'depots' available for Trainz, not the least of which is this one (of mine)..

...which is a 'replica' of one of the country stations in the eastern area (Gippsland) of Victoria and in which, "montanawestren" will note the correct scale for the bricks...

...and that's without mentioning any of the stuff created by "iceman"..

Well somebody likes tooting their own horn. I like the look of your station so far Montana. :D

Well then, I find montana's better because I have a hatred for European architecture (and horn tooters). Mr. Jerkers name is suitable. Great job montana!

Hi

If you're going to make comments like this you should at least check that you know which part of the world that Jerker lives in.

The building by Jerker is Australia, as noted in the caption as being in Victoria, an Australian province, not Europe. Both stations are nice. I do think the bricks are maybe a tad to big, but that wouldn't stop me from using it, or most certainly calling it a poor representation of the real world prototype. Both modeler's stations are great and from two completely different railroad worlds, and in my opinion (which no one asked for ) both are amazing and have their own excellent areas and faults. In my opinion, a little helpful criticism is great, but one must never take on what may be perceived as a gloating attitude or that they are promoting their work by pointing out the flaws of others work and calling it poor, then how their's is better than others.

Working on redoing all the vents/radiators in the correct places, and adding detail to the doors.

Sorry for the terrible picture, i did not render it just ray tracing.

Looking good Jackie really like the work so far!
I frankly agree with Jerker, it does look like complete crap and I do say I could have done a lot better, there are quite a lot of issues with it that I hope to improve over time, but for now I made it so that I could have something for my route that would look the part. If you would like I shall delete these pictures till I make an improved version, sorry for showing it guys.

Picture's fine, and it looks great! I'd recommend not actually modelling every door and its hinges and instead create the illusion of the door when you get around to skinning it. Those doors and hinges will jack your poly counts way up, so making them on the skin instead of the model will give you better performance in game.

G'day Southern1581,

...surely, Squire, the matter cannot be put to rest until I have had my democratic "right of reply"?...

...the intention of my initial post was not, in any way, to cast aspersions on or disparage "montanawestren's" model, other than (as others before me had done), to point out that the scaling of the brick texture needed 'attention') - the actual model is without criticism! My 'dig' was with the, dare I say it, "sweeping generalisation" made by Matt3985. By definition, a thing cannot be better than any other thing (and therefore the 'best' of many other things) if it contains imperfections! Had he said "...ONE of the best...", I would have taken his statement on its merit and probably not said a word about it (and the words I used in that reply might otherwise have been different)...

...as for "tooting my own horn", I have absolutely no qualms about doing so, especially in these pages (after all, isn't that an aspect that is part and parcel of the intention of this thread?), especially when I know that I can resort to my own work as an easily accessible example to assist with explaining my 'point of view'. Did I not add the words... ..."...and that's without mentioning any of the stuff by "iceman"..."... ...whose work, I consider, to be far beyond my own meagre capabilities?...

@AMTRAKwannabe

...whether YOU like something (or not) has no bearing on the fact that one object is (or isn't) ACTUALLY better than any other object...

...and if your words...

..."...Close enough for me. The Aussies used to be Brits..."...

...is a reference to the historical fact that the original white settlers of this country originated from that source, then I must agree with you. Having said that, it might be impudent, then, of me if I were to point out that the first white settlers of your great country were also formerly from that same source (dissatisfied Puritans, were they not?). Given your own logic, that would, by implication, make every American "...a Brit...", also. The only difference is that your lot 'moved' there of their own free will - our lot, at least for the first few years, did not...

...now, I'll get off my soapbox and let the thread run its course...

Still some stuff I want to do to it, but for now, it is tipping the scales at a whopping 570 polys.

More work done on the Ac4400cw. It actually kinda looks like one now! (Excuse the fuel tank completely rebuilding it now and it looks like crap)
