Giving up on trainz

FWIW I agree 100% with the previous comments.

In addition, installing any additional content could have a drastic effect on Trainz' reliability.

i don't get it ! Why am i one of the only ones with a working 2006 copy ! It dosen't freeze the only time i get an error is when i undo to many times and CMP works perfectly everytime !
Anthony

You are not the only one Anthony. I too have a very stable 2006 and CMP. The only grump I have with it is the terrible sound that keeps fading in and out. I am waiting to read the reports about TC3 when it comes out, and if the sound has been fixed, as has been reported i will buy it.

Cheers,

Perhaps somebody who has a perfectly good running 2006 would care to list here their PCs specs then others can get the same.
It would also be interesting to see of two PCs with the same specs (are there 2 such beasts?) run 2006 in exactly the same way. In theory they should, but what does theory count when we are working with a computer!
Angela

Hi Angela,
Well here are my computer specs, but I doubt it will help anyone. I started off with a simple basic computer and gradually updated it to run various new applications as required.

Thanks to imageshack for free image hosting.

Cheers,
Bill69.

I see my graphics card specs have dropped off the bottom of the pic. Graphics card is ATI Radeon X800 XT platinum edition with 512mb DDR3 memory. Display is Viewsonic Va903-3series 19" monitor.

Cheers,
Bill

To my colleage happy TRS2006 users: ;)

:hehe: Do not worry, a man biting a dog is a piece of news, the opposite isn't ;

So, TRS2006 working fine is not a piece of news, it's usual and normal. Of course, when somebody reports a malfunction, it becomes a piece of news.

Most of TRS2006's are running fine, steadily and satisfactorily, fortunately enough for the Brisbane team. Let's remember (wanted or not) that Forum posters are a minority of Trainz users, fortunately enough for the Brisbane Team. :hehe:

Anyway, every version of Trainz is a trainzy way of life and every of them contributes to this amusing craze. Just fun!

Alberte is certainly a multi-faceted person, one could say he's a bit of a "Diamond Geezer" :D

:hehe: Also a gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr grumpy grrrrrrr side! :hehe: Some days ago, it was a bleating side! Too much sucking over the forum! :hehe:

The worst sides are the ones I have to fight against in Gmax and Max. They are really mischievious. :'(

Take care, my friends.

I'm assuming that English is not Alberte's first language, and yet he seems to speak it with so much more meaning than most of the English speakers on this forum....

I'm assuming that English is not Alberte's first language,

Paul, :hehe: my goverment pays me for teaching English and Computing. :hehe: Of late they say they are paying me too much for teaching formal British English. :hehe: And I challenge to push them to retire me after more than 35 years' teaching. Yes, John, many many polygons in my mind yet.

Maybe if Alberte has too many sides he might shatter or become one those multi personalities? Perhaps some TRS2006 probs might come from faulty content? Have been putting in time recently correcting errors in stuff that's been downloaded since UTC. Seems to run a lot better now. When I download anything now I fix errors before committing. Also regular defragging helps. Have had TRS2004 reinstalled and contemplated moving back to that mostly for the better sound and the ability to use Trainz Objectz. However I have about 6 large route projects that could be transferred to 2004, most would need a lot of DLS content to replace inbuilt 2006 content. Decided to keep building them in 2006. The computer I'm using is just a minimum specs and get reasonable results with that.

Quote: "I truely wish that those that choose to leave our community, did so quietly, bit the bullet and left without what seems to have become almost a traditional, 'I've had it....I'm leaving' scenario. I would love to see the energy focussed on leaving, being utilised in making sure the community survives. It would be a shrewd step if 'I'm leaving postings' were ignored and perhaps we could hope they would dwindle away.............

(I've never moved forward from 2004 - still finding it a superb programme that does everything 'I' want...........)

Here's to a long future."

Well written, Ian, I also still find 2004 a superb programme, and it still does everything I could ask for.

So, you are most certainly not alone on this issue, I have not tried 2006, or TC, and even if (God Forbid) every content maker stopped producing new items for 2004, and the DLS closed, I would still have enough downloaded items and routes, to keep me busy for the forseeable future.

I value my whole Trainz experience, and now I've retired with a bit more spare time, I value it more than ever.

Regards, Sandie.

Giving up

You are not alone Athony by any stretch of the imagination..I have been running 2006 with no problems...with the exception of the CMP over the weekends..which is mostly due to an overloaded server...I guess this is when most Trainzer's are doing their thing...and where most of the complaints arise..I think it depends a lot on what your expectations are ,and the computer you are using...I tried TC but am not happy with it..It almost seems to have the same trouble as MS has with their FSX...??..not being all that compatible with previous versions...Just think the silent majority is enjoying Trainz anyway..I have found if you have a problem help is always available on the forums...I,m in my 78th year so perhaps I have more time and patience than some ,or maybe I'm just slower..:cool:Leonard,.

If used in the right way, TRS2006 is an amazingly stable package and I won't hear a word against it. My right-hand speaker box has been sitting on it for almost 3 years now and hasn't fallen off once.

Thanks for the pleasant and much appreciated response, Sandie. I fully agree with your comments.

I'm another error free TRS2006 user. Any errors I've had have been self-inflicted and seem to be caused by not fixing content when it was noted to be missing assets or had errors.

The only problem I have now is not having enough time to enjoy Trainz the way I used to.

John

:hehe: Satisfied TRS2006 users are coming out of the cabinet! :hehe:

;)The Brisbane Team should use this one as a real testimony for future ads. :hehe:
