Getting new assets into Surveyor

How do I get new assets into Surveyor. When I download and commit new assets, some show up in Surveyor, most do not. I have tried turning off the content filters or giving the new assets a 5 star rating. Neither seems to move assets into Surveyor.

In particular, I have no track marks in surveyor, for example
kuid:1: 6131 Track Mark
kuid:3:11149 Drive to Track Mark
kuid:3:11209 Drive via Track Mark
nor this example of many other canal assets
kuid:36638:38002 canalside1

What is the magic I don't know, please. All show as installed in CM
As should be obvious, I am new. Thanks

Mac

If the asset has a mesh then it needs a mesh-table in config file.
This applies to many assets that you might think don't need a mesh-table.

Otherwise, despite CM saying it has no faults, it will not be visible and you will not be able to place it in Surveyor.

Well, I said I was new. What is a mesh-table, where do you get it, what do you do with it?

I did a quick check in CM and the Drive to and Drive Via trackmark kuids are built-in content in TS2010.

You have the kuids listed wrong I believe.

The kuids are actually
kuid:-3:11149 Drive to Track Mark
kuid:-3:11209 Drive via Track Mark

The 3 is actually a -3. The minus symbol indicates that is is Auran created content.

As I said before, in surveyor, look under the tracks tab and then under the icon at the right at the top of the pop-out menu for trackwork items. This is where you'll find the trackmarks that you're looking for.

Correction to my previous post.
You will find trackmarks at the location that I told you.
The Drive To and Drive Via Trackmark commands are rules that you set up in sessions. You need to edit a session to add these rules if they're not showing up.

Here's some screenshots that may help you.

Thanks all, one of these days I'll start getting it.
Mike, thanks for the screen shots. Problem: When I type "Track Marker" into the search box (yellow in your screen shots) I do not get a list, just a blank box below. For some reason Surveyor does not see the same assets as CM (ver3.3, not 2 as the manual for 2010EE says)

Before I moved into this old folks home I used to live between Chattanooga and Cleveland TN

They should still show up as they're built-in assets in Trainz. Are you sure that you have the correct icon clicked at the top (the three round icons in a row). You need to click on the one at the right. It's highlighted in my screenshot.

Just to reinforce what my fellow Trainzers posted. "Drive To", "Drive To Trackmark", and "Drive Via Trackmark" are drivers commands which are built into but not enabled in 2010. To enable go to Routes, Sessions, Edit Session (Do not enable in Edit Route), Session Rules (button at top), Drivers Commands, tick appropriate boxes. No need to search for trackmarks as they are part of a short list. They are in surveyor, track tab on the right hand side. (3rd button) on the top right.

Aaarghh! How dumb can I get! Maybe as dumb as this reply system which shows the quote as Leeferr's when it is Colourlight's. In any event, when I follow your advice and click the Trackmark icon on the right, there they are.

Thanks all! Now if they just had a canal icon....

Mac

That is a quote of mine. Anyway, I'm glad that it worked out.

As far as the canal is concerned, I don't have that one installed (I don't think), but I suspect that it's a spline. In surveyor, click on your scenery objects tab and make sure you have the 'spline' icon clicked. If you're looking for it under objects, and not splines, it won't show up. Similar to the trackmark thing. The trackmarks wouldn't show up under the 'tracks' icon

Well, you are correct again, Mike. All sorts of stuff shows up as splines. Thanks again!!

Mac---hoping someday to get a little smarter

You're very welcome and it's not about being smart or not, it's about being educated or not. Stick around here and you can get lots of education just as we all had to do at some point. We didn't go to sleep one night and then wake up the next morning knowing what we know. It takes time and patience.

Best of Luck

Mike
