Gather All Ye Track and Bridge Makers

I want to request from any track and bridge makers for some more Talyllyn track, and some bridges of the same gauge as the Talyllyn's 2'3" gauge track. Kevmt is the only one that has made any Talyllyn track, and he only made one variation. Anyone up to the challenge?

Try bendorsey. He is the best bridge builder. As long as you have some good photo's and dimensions, he may be able to help you out.

I suggest you post a bunch of pictures of what you are looking for (both tracks and bridges). Maybe a content creator who sees them falls in love and starts creating ;).

All it takes is pics and info.

Photos of the overall bridge (from as close to directly from the side as possible). Photos of the individual spans, piers, and ends.

Basic info such as overall length, length of the individual spans, height above the water, number of tracks, and a little historical data such as when built, where located, over what river, etc.

Is it open deck (you can see the water between the ties) or closed deck (you can't as its ballasted).

One bridge at a time please, lol

The wooden bridge I was thinking of was sited on a horse only branch, so is probably not of much use in Trainz. There was, however , also the original Dovey viaduct, built in a similar style to the famous wooden viaducts on the Cambrian coast line, this was later replaced by an iron girder bridge, with stone piers.

This suggests that, other than the original Dovey viaduct most Welsh 2ft 3in bridges could be recreated with existing bridge components with suitable track laid over the top.

This means that what we really need created is a selection of high detail 2ft 3in gauge tracks with a selection of different textures etc. Other useful variations would probably be ones with check rails for tight corners/bridges and tracks atop dry stone embankments.

That's exactly what I was wanting! I couldn't have put it better myself. So who do you think would be the best person to request the track from?

I wasn't exactly wanting a particular bridge. I was thinking maybe something similar to what you have already made, but with 2'3" gauge track.

But if there was a particular bridge, I was thinking of the Dolgoch Viaduct:

I'm not sure if I can supply all of the pictures you need, or all of the specifications you need to make it. There seems to be a lack of specifications about this bridge.

Maybe you could find more info about it than I can.

That's a cool looking bridge! :)

I don't usually ask for much as I feel as a non-contributor and only an end-user, I'm not in the position to do so. However... It would be nice to see some decent narrow gauge track. It seems the stuff we have available to us isn't up to the standards of the standard gauge track we now see on the DLS. It would be nice if someone, whose an expert in this area, could come up with some newer narrow gauge track in the usual 24-inch, 36-inch, 42-inch, meter and in between sizes we see.

Maybe some day this could happen and no rush of course. Unless there's some made that I'm not aware of. :)

Generally speaking size can be inferred from a known datum. In this case the length of a traincar. That known I can do a bit of ratio and porportion and get reasonably close to the real thing. Not exact of course.

Gauge is not a problem as I can always make the track from parts in max that look like track with trains actual crossing on invisible track. We know its not real but trains don't.

Printed out the two photos above (which means need to know how long that traincar is, lol).

The brake van is 13ft 6in long, the carriages are either 13ft 6in (1 of) or 14ft 6in (2of) - out of the Talyllyn's 3 otherwise identical coaches, one was shorter. It looks like the first one is the short one to me.

Additionally Boyd describes the viaduct as being "51ft above the (..) gorge".

@edh6 Thanks for finding the info! Much appreciated! @clam1952 Thanks for the link! I can't wait for the rest. Does this mean that you plan on making some Talyllyn rollingstock?

Won't be too long (time wise that is - not bridge wise, lol). I will not be putting any track on it since its a ballasted deck and you gents can use whatever design track you prefer.

Its been uploaded.

TRS2004 version to the TPR site. TS2012/SP1/HF4 version to the DLS. Should appear I a day or two.

Give me a shout if you need another.
