Garrat steam locos problem

On some Garrat locos like the QR Red Garrat the SAR Garrat the tender wheels start turning the opposite way when I use Cab Mode, but when the A1 drives or in DC mode there is no problem. Has anybody else experienced this or perhaps know what the reason could be ?

I love my Garratts so i should be able to help, what do you mean turning the oposite way
Garratt going forward
Water Tank. Tender
<-------------- <--------
Garratt going backward
Water Tanm. Tender
-------------->. --------->
thats the way they are supposed to go, are they doing this?
Water Tank. Tender
<-------------- --------->

and what garratts exactly, 400 class garratts? Beyer Garratts?

Hi Falken442, I mean that - in Cab Mode - the Garrats boiler and water tank is in forward gear moving forward , whilest the tender section is moving backward and the loco can't get going.
I think I have found the problem.
When placing the boiler , front unit and back unit, they can be operated as seperate units , so one can be in FWD gear and the other unit in back gear, so I will have to place the boiler, front and back units , combine them, make sure they are all in the same gear and then make a consist out of it. Does this sound right to you.
I am specifically taking about the Queensland Railway Garret and the SAR406s Garret that I downloaded from the white pages.
I have also downloaded the NSWGR 60 Garrat but I cannot get the boiler section to show up becuase of stacks of texture missing problems in TS12, perhaps you can help here please.

I think your problem is that the two engine units are configured as engines, I have always done mine differently. Th boiler is the engine and the engine units are just traincars. Try making this change and see what happens.

It is also possible that the tender unit was made facing in the same direction as the tank unit in Gmax. It should have been made 'reversed ' in Gmax so that its natural forward direction is correct.

The first and third part of your answer makes sense to me thanks Peter . How do I go about making the change please, at this moment the front and back units are controllable seperately from the cab control hud as if they are engines.
It sure looks funny to place just the water tank or tender unit on the track and it takes off like a rocket when controlled like an engine.

I suggest that you do any changes to clones.

Tender unit:- There is a choice in the bogie tag setup that allows you to reverse the animation. This may be enough to fix your problem but you will still have two engines (separate locos) to handle

Boiler config:- Copy all the engine related config entries and scripts to the boiler config including the setting for 'engine = 1'

Tank and tender units:- remove all the 'engine' related tags, set 'engine = 0', in short, convert them both to traincars.

I have a 30" gauge Vic narrow gauge Garratt on the DLS, there is also a two foot gauge NGG11 Garratt there that was made for Northbay. Not really set up for cab control but they may point the way.
