I just got a new dell xps 420 with an nvidia geforce 9800gt series 512mb graphics card, 3gb of ram, a quad core processor, and a 500gb hard drive. at the start, when i would view a train, it would be smooth, now it gets kinda choppy with the smallest of trains. im using 06. please help.

Hmmm I have an almost identical set up (1GB more RAM and not a DELL) and I haven't come close to stalling it yet? Have you updated any drivers recently? Maybe try a roll-back and see if that helps.

Have you checked to see how much unwanted junk is running in the background? New PCs usually need an extensive 'cleaning' before they're usable, IMHO...

First thing I do with a new PC is format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system and leave all the other CDs for drink coasters.;) The driver discs can be as much as a year old so I just go to their web site and DL the latest ones.
That usually clears everything up for me.:)

I may be wrong on this but I think someone said that Trainz only uses a single core of a CPU so Dual or Quad makes no difference? Also, have you set Resource Cache Size to half of your available RAM?

TC3 apparently now uses two cores quite well.
