I have a broad question, but, is it possible that in the far future that Metra may launch an electrification program on all its routes in the Chicago area? I've heard claims that widespread electrification may occur again due to "new methods".
I saw an operating expense report for Metra a long time ago. Metra is paying a lot of money for the IC electrification. They are buying their power from the local power company I used to do business with them but I have forgotten their name. I remember my lousy phone service in Chicago that was Ameritech. Back to the report Metra is paying such an exorbitant rate for electric power that the diesels are cheaper to operate on a train mile basis last I looked.
