-Freeintcam invisible loco

B99

Steel on Steel
I've been seeing these awesome shots lately using the -freeintcam entry in trainz options. What I'm curious is, isn't there some sort of an invisible loco that you can zoom in for cooler shots of other trains.

Thanks guys

The Jet Sled has no cab controls, and has an unobstructed cab view ... I place aerial BNSF50 Invisatrack in the sky, and roam about using the arrow KB keys ... This also can be done with any loco ... roaming about outside the cab.

I take almost all of my screenshots from the cab of a nearby parallel loco cab.

The zoom shots can be done from the cab of any loco. To get the angle you want it may be necessary to place a 'dummy' length of track and place a loco on it. -freeintcam allows you to move the camera to a position outside the cab, so the loco used isn't 'invisible', it's just out of view behind the camera...

I've not tried it, but I reckon there could be an advantage in having an invisible loco, provided it is totally invisible in Driver.

When you move out of the cab you can move huge distances in all three dimensions.

If you look back on the original loco, on all of the one I've tried, it will be disjointed - minus bogies etc. Not a good look if it's included in the shot you want containing "intact" locos.

There is an easy way to have unrestricted travel from an interior view.

You need an 'invisible interior mesh'

You need to have a 'cabfront' attachment, added by Pev's Attachment maker if you don't have the main original mesh

Finally you need to add this in the interior config file:-'outside-visible-from-cabin 1'

With this setup you actually see the interior or the complete outside of the main mesh with normal lighting, not the featureless lighting of a normal interior. Using the cursor and key pad you can move anywhere you want, even sit on the roof if necessary. It is quite amusing to get out of the guards van and walk to the engine.

One thing to remember, you are still based on the original traincar and if you are away from it when the train moves you move with it.

The invisible loco you want is Slugsmasher's Invisicab, <kuid:86661:15710>. It is on the DLS but make sure you tick earlier versions to see it. By adding extra viewpoints to the interior config you can get quite a variety of views. I have added a high level value to mine, which is useful when exploring a new route.

Thanks for that info!

Am I right in thinking that these additions add to the 'immediate jump to next view' from cab using the “[”, and “]” keys?

If so, that’s a neat trick. It’s not as versatile, perhaps, as using the navigation arrow keys to gently float through the landscape, but it presumably overcomes the problem of losing the position selected when the session is ended.

On my version the cab view always re-starts on the footplate when a new session is opened, even if that session has been saved. That can be a bit of a pain, particularly if the exterior view selected is a long way from the cab. Progress can be painfully slow. It’s a pity there is no “accelerator” to speed progress as with the walk or fly options in surveyor (hold Ctrl when navigating to double the speed).

That feature can be very creative as a tracking camera, or to frame a screenshot. It a bit like using it as a film makers dolly to gently move the camera into the best position for the shot. You can still use all of the other navigation keys in its new position and also whilst it’s moving.

I won't say ignore this post, just forget it.
Ignored and forgotten already!:D
