Forum navigation very strange

I keep getting this: I always go to 'what's new' when I sign on here and, since the new Forum design was introduced, it always appears to give the wrong number of new posts and pages. So for example, today it said there were 304 new posts in 13 pages. But I can't get beyond page 9 and post 221. When I try and go beyond page 9, it says there are no posts found. This false page count thing has been going on since the Forum redesign, so what's going on?

Also, why is there no button to take you direct to the last page if you have multiple pages from a search? This used to exist on the previous version of the Forum and is an extremely useful function. Could it be restored?

Or have I just misunderstood how the new forums work? That's quite likely!

EDIT: bizarre! now I can get to page 10, new posts 226 to 247, but I stil can't get to pages 11 to 13. What is going on?

Instead of using the "Whats New" button after logging in, I use the 'New Posts' button on the next menu line down.
As long as you have used "Forum Actions - Mark Forums Read" when you last shut down, the count should be correct.
Well, in my experience, it has always appeared correct. I log in twice a day, and usually have 5 pages of new posts.
