Fishlipsatwork Dems Weird Question

Hiya's,
Hoping someone across the pond might be able to help me out ...

Got all of fishlipsatwork dems

I have been laying tracks n turnouts and also come to grips with signals and speedboards both usa and uk

Now with these lovely dems that the kind guy did i wanted to ask a weird question (hence thread title lol) ...............

Not really knowing the true geographicals of the USA, is there a dem that he's made that could pass for part of the UK ?? (dales/valleys/flat open valleys, no ben nevis's every 4 mile lol)

My idea is to use one of fishlipsatwork dems to kind of get me jump-started into a long passenger/industry kind of layout where i can try and make a working passenger/industry route

As i say a weird request i guess, just want to see if all i've learned so far can work in a nice terrain

And don't worry, for the purists you'll never see a usa dem passed off as a uk dem coming from me lol, solely for me to save some time while i try my newly learned trainz knowledge out ;)

Cheers

Tony

ps: started to load a dem and scroll over it, but with i think 173 dems it's taking ages, so maybe someone can suggest a dem

I will be more than happy to take a look for you as I have most if not all of his DEM's. As for deep valleys I'm not to sure there are any but if you like low grasssy lands with hilly backdrops then might I suggest Birmingham, CSX. Even though it is American by seeing British route's like Angela's I think it will be ok.

Hope this helps.

Hiya Ryan,

I found one earlier that seems to fit in quite nice, Bronx east i think it was

Will certainly look at Birmingham now (actually my dad was from brum as we call it (birmingham) and i live 21 miles north east from it

Many Thanks Ryan that's damn decent of you :) If any more spring to mind just add a reply and i'll have a look over the dem

Gonna go have a look at that dem ;)

Have Fun

Hiya,
Found another dem that could pass as part of england up to yorkshire and heading up to scotland and around some higher areas of scotland

Cheyenne east (think it was east)

Maybe a few large hills and i guess small mountains would need to be squashed but heck it looks decent

Gonna go wade through some more dems now

ps: Can't find a birmingham dem from fishlipsatwork, am i assuming wrong i need to find a dem with for alabama ? (sorry if spellings wrong)

Cheers

Tony

In general, almost any of Fishlipsatwork DEMS east of the Mississippi River and North of Florida will be fine for England. You simply change the the geographic colors and vegitation to match yours. The Appalations, which petty much run along the entire East Coast, 100 to 200 miles inland, are similar to your Scots highlands, especially in the foothills. Any coastal map will be a good pick also (except Southern Florida). West Cost maps, short of the Rockies wil fit also.
Having spent a few months in Jolly 'old England, I can asure you that you don't look that much different from the rest of us.
Uglier maybe! And a bit more tempermental, but your trees look the same as most I've grown up with.
Respectfuly :p

Hiya's,
Lol steamboateng

I think a line that ewan mcgregor said in one of his bike programmes summed it up, somert like, no matter where in the world you go some area will always remind you of home, which is true mostly i guess

One online m8 in ohio, his surroundings look like the area i was born, just the houses etc differ but trees etc look just the same

I've got to "G" scrolling through fishlipsatwork's dems, and found 3 dems so far that could really pass as part of blighty

Was worried after i initially posted that some yanks (use that in a nice way to describe you americans) might take offence using american dems as a quick-fix for old blighty, luckily like most forums i frequent the people are decent and helpful ;)

Well i never saw a ben nevis when i scrolled across chicago Euphod he he but then again my eyes may be starting to fail :P

Sure are some great terrains in the usa

Cheers Guys

Have Fun

Tony
