Firefox Users, Try this,

Long time train lover
I found this on another forum and tried it, it really works! The following is the instructions.

1.Type about:config into the address bar of Firefox and hit return. You will get a warning just select ok, Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. Right click on the entries and select toggle.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set network.http.pipelining to true

Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true

Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0 (zero). This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

You have to close your browser after you make the changes. When you start it back up they will be in effect.

What is the main overall difference , and advantages between Firefox, and Internet Explorer, or other browsers.

Also, is there "hints" and "tweeks" such as this one for Internet Explorer, or other browsers ?

Does this also work in Internet Explorer ?

I presently have a very good speed, 3mbs, High Speed, ISP

Sorry Cascade, I don't think this works for IE. Rather because IE means: Internet Exploder. Firefox is a much better browser than IE. I'd recommend upgrading. You wont lose all of your favorites. ;)

You can try Firefox without any commitment, financial or technical. If you don't like it, uninstall it.

Ive been using Firefox since its first public version and have always loved its stability and interface. Far better than IE.

Just a bit off track

I've always used FF but have gone back to version 3.0.& turned off auto updates.
The latest update kept crashing on me every couple of minutes
Anyone else had this problem?

Yes, the update messed up some of the registry entries for quite a number of people and is well documented. I had to go into my registry and delete all entries related to firefox and then install the latest version. It works fine now.

@ cascaderailroad, Forefox runs smoother and has less problems with viruses and does not have as many security flaws.

(Using Firefox on Mac, IE on windows).
Amigacooke, Your not using your Amiga to browse the internet? I still use my A4000 with a Video Toaster 4000 Flyer and love it. However the internet browsing just does not work well enough.

@Euphod and others, Thanks. I thought this would be good for others to know.

I had Firefox....but I didn't see much difference between IE and it...what are it's visible obvious advantages ?

Firefox has a lot more addons, it is free, it has better support, and IE has a scary lack of security. Add on the fact that it may not be updated as quickly as Firefox for niggly little bugs, then firefox is a lot better.
