Finding your own content in CM but not in DLS

Maybe I'm dense, but I can't figure out a way to do the following:

See what of MY content IS on my computer and NOT in the Download Station.

My goal is to see what I might have missed or forgotten to upload...

It may be worth trying the following search:

Author: (your username)
AND NOT
Location: Download Station

This should help identify what you've uploaded and what you haven't.

I don't think what Shane has suggested will work, if the assets you have uploaded are also on you local installation which is normally the case, CM will see these as "Local" along with all the assets you have not uploaded.

I can see what you are getting, at but as things stand it think it's a case of either:

Do a manual compare between the Web DLS and CM.

or

have another trainz install which has only built in plus your DLS items, which would also involve some manual comparison - maybe copying the CM lists into a spreadsheet might make things easier.

I keep a running check of what I have in progress in a spreadsheet and update the list when an upload is confirmed.

At your own risk (although it is the way I do it myself):
Make a backup of all the items you want to check (like save to an archive). Delete the items in your install, then check which items of you can be found in game.

What I usually do is delete the item once I get confirmation that it is on the DLS (after making a back-up of course). Then delete the item and download it. Also removes the anoying "locally modified" so you are sure you got "the final version".

1-Using the search feature, location=local, built in=false, this will show what you have downloaded.
2-Add locally modified=true, = downloaded assets you've modified.
3-Add author=#(your id number) = anything you've made, sessions, clones, routes etc.
4-Just looking for missing deps, built in = false, missing deps=true.

Just tried the above exactly as suggested. It does not work for what the OP wanted (and something that would be useful to all content creators) a way of asking "which of my created assets have I uploaded". What it does do is show all assets you have created and are local, it does not differentiate between assets that are purely local and those which have been uploaded to the DLS and where the originals still exist locally.

Thanks for trying to find a solution though :) !

Missed the minor detail about upload.
Why not check the dls (not cm) with the O/P's kuid.
Or cm search-author=frogpipe, there's only 1 at the moment.
If there's anything missing you can bet your boots a missing deps post will appear soon enough.
The only way is to have 2 versions of trainz, one of which is a virgin copy to download your own assets to check for missing deps. Once ok'd delete it.
Sounds a bit irish but the only way my addled brain can think of.

Well I did a search On the DLS! (black Pages)He need to make a list of what in there.
frogpipe = user name (i found 38)
Now if he dose a search for
Location = local in CM he will come up with 55
add-- out of date = true he will come up with 17
Now he subtract 17 from 55 he'll should get 38 if he has more, then he needs to upload the rest.

These sound like good ideas, but I was checking to see if there was a simpler way.

What I had tried was "Author=frogpipe" AND "location=local" AND NOT "location=DLS" but that didn't work....

I'll try these other ideas when I get a chance.

How I do it is :- Get hold of Orbit downloader and install (its a free downloader). Open the DLS (black pages) tick all versions and enter user name and search, 38 items show. Click on edit at the top of web page and select all. Right click and select download selected by Orbit. You will see all on the page. Scroll down to see the kuids and select them all by holding Ctrl down and clicking on each one. Click the Switch choosing state box, select an empty folder and download.
You can now compare the empty folder alongside the CMP My content tab. Delete empty folder when finished.

You've all got the filter too complicated. I found this one out the hard way myself awhile back.

Search Filter:

Author = #yourkuid

By default it goes to the local drive for your kuids. You can't see the stuff up on the DLS.

"Author = Username" also gives the same result. But using either does not answer the OP's question - how can he tell which of his assets he has uploaded and which he has not ?

It's been mentioned. He has to go to the DLS Black pages and do a search for his own username. Then compare what has been uploaded to what hasn't. It's crazy we have to do it that way.

I wonder... is there anything in the Planet Auran upload, such as approvals, and messages?

Yes, Username works too.

Agreed John, but I bet it's way down N3V's priority list to do anything about it !

Maybe content creators should make a bit more noise about the problems they face "The squeaky wheel gets the oil". Another and prime example of this is the woeful lack of content creation documentation, in any format, provided by N3V - I can understand why the development team don't do it, it's the product strategists who decide where the money is spent - but do they realise that a major strength of Trainz over its competitors is the ability of users to create content ?

There seems to be a lot of different suggestions, but just select the 'My Content' tab in the CM and it'll show you your stuff that's on your computer. Changing the 'Local' in 'Location Local' to 'Download Station' will show what content will be on the Download Station. However, you can also bring up two different CM's by going to the Trainz Launcher and selecting 'content' both times. Select 'My Content' tab on both of them. Have one of the CMs say 'Location Local' and the other say 'Location Download Station'.

I can't see why it wouldn't work. He meant of course add an extra filter to the 'my content' one.

Hi Paul,

You think it would work, but it does not. I tried this too the other day and had the same results. I don't know why. It's inexplicable, but then again it's Content Manager.
