Finding missing assets on route

Slave to my route
Greetings fellow route builders. I want to upgrade the L&A to TRS19/22 standards. One thing I found is the missing assets I need to replace or repair. Is there a way to find the location of the missing assets on the route map to be replaced or repaired?

Dave

If you have it set to show missing assets with the orange wireframes, then it becomes a hunt to find the orange boxes throughout the route. I don't know of any magic search function to find them in their actual locations. That sure would be a nice feature though

It's perhaps rather tedious but what I do is pick an asset I want to locate that is missing and I create a dummy asset with its kuid and install it. Then I open the route and look for that asset. I made a 200' long ruler a while back to use for measuring in Surveyor so I made a rotated version of that ruler that is now a 200 foot tall white stick with red numbers on it. I use that for my dummy asset. It takes a while but makes it easier to find the location of the missing asset. I've used it as an intermediate step to replacing Speedtrees in updated routes that become faulty.

Admittedly, on a large route, that may not be much help but I have found it to be useful nonetheless. Unfortunately, the other part of the problem is not knowing exactly what the asset is. But if I can at least find where it is it might give me a hint of what to use as a replacement or if I should just delete it.

Yes, I was wondering whether to mention something tall like Toronto tower could be cloned and used that way, but I wonder what happens if the missing asset is a texture or a spline like a road or some kind of rolling stock or loco, does it still work?

These two assets are the most obvious, though. With textures, we're left with the grid, I do wonder now what we're left with since the default texture is now the built-in PBR grass, and splines are represented as the infamous white dashed double lines.

It's the other scenery assets that are difficult to find such as some buildings and industries. Trees too possibly, but a missing tree here and there isn't as bad as a needed building or industry.

Good trips everyone, I guess I was hoping TRS22 would have something new to help find the assets. As of now I'm just on the orange box hunt and using an older version to help i.d. the missing assets. Now I need to try and wrap my head around Surveyor 2.0

If you use the pick tool in S2.0 and point it on the orange box it will give you a kuid number of the asset. You just then need to find or replace it. If you need to replace the asset just find your replacement and open the config file. Add an obsolete table with the missing assets kuid. Save it and when you open the route it will show the replaced asset. After you save the route revert the replacement to original.

Stagecoach you're the best! Your suggestion is working wonderfully, but new problem.

Many of the assets showing up as missing are now payware? I purposely built the Levi & Appalachian to use mostly assets found on the DLS or a few third-party sites, but no payware. How can this be fixed short of deleting the assets? My guess there built-in in TANE.

Dave

If they were built-in then they should be available on the DLS. Also, have you downloaded the additional Tane assets and the content fix products from the content store?
