Find height in 2.0

Beats me as well. This is one of the things I have to jump back into S10 to get. The Getting Started Surveyor 2.0 Guide does not include that information, as far as I can tell.

Hi All
With Surveyor 2.0 there are two ways to see the height of a specific location of terrain.

The first is in the 'info' pallette, which shows the current height of the compass in the 'focus' section as the Z axis.

The second is you can get the current height by right clicking on the 'height' option in the Tool Option pallette and then click on 'Get Height at Compass' (you can also get the height from an object using the 'Get Height from Selection' option).

Hello,

I understand how to get height for where the compass is, but the issue I have is the height of the water. If I want to extend say a pond or the length of a river I have to hover my compass as close as I can to the edge of the water to get the height of the current water level to continue. With legacy water all you have to do is hover the compass over the water and it will continue the water at the same height as the previously laid water. The program doesn't seem to consider water an object I can hover over to get its height level. I'm hoping you are going tell me I'm just missing something. Thanks.

Hi Jack,

You can detect the height of the water layer in Surveyor Classic but not S20 as far as I can tell. Topology tab, Advanced then click the arrow to the left or right of Ground until the layer shown is water. Then you can use the Get Height or Set Height to get the height or paint the height of the water. It takes a bit of getting used to.

Kind regards,

Gary
