File Transfer Help

Hello, I recently Purchased Trainz 22 from Steam. I have not downloaded the game yet to my PC as Im not sure on how to transfer all my files from Trainz 2019, Trainz 2019 is on Steam as well, I have so many Routes and custom paints for engines and cars that I want to bring over. But im not sure on how to go about doing it and I don't want to mess anything up. So any Help on how to transfer Files from 19 to 22 on Steam would be greatly appreciated!

Download 22 first. Make a copy of 19's build folder and paste it somewhere on any drive. Launch 22 and select settings on the launch screen. Click on install, and change the path to your copied build folder and do a DBR.

The "build folder" is also known as the User (or Local) Data Folder. May I suggest a read of the Trainz Wiki Page at How_to_Move_Your_User_Data_Folder

Ok im getting to the step where its telling me to copy and paste the address to the folder. Trainz 2019 install area is not letting me copy the address?

Step 4 tells me to highlight and copy the address in the Install screen then paste it into the file explorer. But I cant Copy. I Right click on the highlighted area and it doesnt do anything or give me any options.?

It won't link to the folder, it shows the path to it.
Highlight the path and click on edit at the top and select copy. Paste it into the search window next to your start button. Right click the folder that appears and select open file location. You should have build with various letters and numbers. Copy it and paste to where you want it.

ok i got that. But it looks like its telling me to copy the entire folder. that folder also has the Trainz2019.exe in there wont that cause issues? and where do I create the new folder destination? and i can name it anything I want too?

Yes, copy the folder and paste wherever you want. You can change the name once it has been pasted to the new location.
That folder should not have TRS19.exe in it.

Trainz creates two folders. The first is the TRS19 Folder with TRS19.exe in it. You can select where you want to put it during installation. The second is the data or build folder, which always goes to the C drive by default.
The operating folder should have a data and resources folder and the .exe.
The build folder should have backups, cache, editing, libraries, local, original, and packages showing

i Just highlighted every single thing that was in the folder and its saying its 713GB worth of data and that its going to take a day or more to transfer to the new folder..... lol.... so is there just certain files and folders I need and not all? if so which ones? im sorry but im not that smart when it comes to this kinda stuff...

You will need ALL the folders but not necessarily all their contents.

Before copying you can delete the contents of (but not the folders themselves) the Backup, Editing and Screenshots folders but the savings in files to be copied and the time taken will not be huge.

ok yeah once the files have transferred ill go back and delete the screenshots dont need to transfer them! Thanks. Ill Message back here if I run into any more issues! thank you!
