File organization questions

I recently reloaded TS12 and patched to Build 61388. I downloaded a few freeware assets from JR's website and the CDP's were loaded into my new location of C:\TS12-V2. Now when I open the "file location" there are 18 CDP's sitting there amongst the other folders. Should I drag and drop them into another folder in there? Which folder? How do I direct them to the proper folder should I download some more assets? May seem like basic knowledge to most of you, but I have not yet mastered the intricacies of how (and WHY) computers do what they do.:(

Thanks.

You should not be placing the .CDP files directly into the TS12 folder. Either double-click the files, or use Import CDP in Content Manager, to import the assets into Trainz.

I usually download CDP's and place them in my PC Downloads folder ... when my disc begins to get filled up, I send all the CDP's over to an external hard drive for safekeeping and storage, to free up my PC hard drive

CDP's should not be in your Trainz Folder ... send only the individual CDP's to a New Folder that you rename ie: "Trainz CDPs", in your PC Downloads

That is what happens with mine...at first. Then I click on them in the downloads folder and they load into CM all by them selves. Not sure why they end up in the C:\TS12-V2 folder "out in the open" like that. That is not the case with my TS12 Build 49922 that I still have.

I'm not sure either, although one of the folders does store cached versions of downloaded CDP files (from the DLS) from memory.

I appreciate everyone's help, but I am just getting more and more confused. I think I will get one of my kids to come over next week and show me something about Windows and files and folders and
whatever !
