Fed up with TRS 09 and 2010

Yet another problem shows its ugly head.

This time I am unable to patch TRS10 from version 41615 to version 43434.

When I try (and I have tried countless times) I get this message, "This patch file is not applicable to your current installation version.
No valid patch operation was specified. Patching aborted."

Is the patch telling me that it doesn't recognise its previous patch version 41615? The version shows up as being correct on the splash screen.

TRS09 gave me many hours of headaches and now TRS10 is doing the same thing.

A question I am asking myself as I type this is "Do I have a usable game or have I just made a donation to Auran's coffers"

Any assistance would be nice.

Thanks in advance Ray.

This error message might/will come up if your installed TS10 version is not version 41615. Like my DVD version of TS10, which I had to patch first up to 41615 to be able to patch further with this new patch you are trying to install, version 41615 to version 43434. You have not stated what version of TS10 you have installed.

Check your installed version of TS10, the first screen you get when starting it displays the version number on bottom right of this opening screen.

patched to version 41615 but can not patch to version 43434

I have successfully patched trs10 to version 41615, but can not patch to 43434 on my windows7 64bit system?

All 3 service packs work fine on my windows7 32bit laptop, so the problem is not with corrupt patches.

Auran recommended Windows7 64bit, so as my PC was old I decided to go the whole hog and upgrade, motherboard, Ram to 4GB, CPU to Intel Core 2 Duo 2.95Ghz. I did not upgrade my video card as I have a nVidia 8500GT with 512Mb, which will do for a while longer.

Service pack 3 (version 41615 to Version 43434) will not patch under Windows7 64bit.

All patches have been run under Administrator rights and with my Anti-virus program turned off, The problem is not with the method in which I am trying to run the service pack / patch.

any advice please.

Thanks in advance. Ray.

I think what others have been getting at is that you skipped a service pack. Try applying SP2 then SP3. It's a good idea to do an Extended Database Repair for each upgrade, to boot, and each will take many hours, from what I've seen.

I don’t know about SP3 for version 41615 but TS2010 SP3 (41622-43434) worked fine for me on a fresh Windows 7 64 OS on the below listed i7 975X/ATI 5870 setup.

In addition I didn’t have any problems with TRS2009 SP3 either on this same setup.

Are you sure that the installer is looking in the correct place for 2010. Check the text box at the top of the window.

How many times do you install your OS? Seems like every post of yours is on a "fresh" install of Windows. Just curious.

Dave.........

Between beta testing, testing new drivers and changing video cards, a lot, probably at least twice a month with both of my i7 setups.

Nothing can give you consistent results like a clean OS.

It is a brand new computer, not even a week old.

That doesn’t make much of difference if the OS wasn’t properly installed to begin with.

Is there any way that you could go into detail on how the OS was installed, from Windows updates, DirectX updates and drivers?

re unable to patch

Problem has be temporarily sorted. (not solved)

I have just copied all of the tr2010 directory from my 32bit OS laptop to my 64bitOS PC.

this have given me the service pack 3 updates from ver 41615 to ver 43434.

however the problem still remains in that service pack 3 will not patch directly after installing the earlier service packs (1, 2)

thanks to all the tried to help.

I shall leave well enough alone and not attempt to change anything whilst it appears to be working.

You may not need to do the previous patches with this service pack. SP3 may contain all of the previous fixes, so this might explain why the install is crashing.

Try,Try,Again

I had this problem once on my 64bit Vista OS. What I did was to completley uninstall TS2010 Folder,Auran Folder,Trainz Folder etc. Anything relating to Auran or Trainz. I then turned off any firewalls and anti virus program. Then I re-installed 2010 without interruption. Then install patches 1,2,3 and let each one run completley no matter how long it takes or seems to be doing nothing. Do not interrupt. Before running Trainz I did an extended databse repair first. After all of this work TS2010 works fine. Something you might try if you haven't already.
