FEC Key West extension modern day

Thanks.

It took a lot less effort than I thought it would to straighen the road out. TransDEM always has those problems.

I am currently tackling areas between that and South Miami. Expect parking garage vantage shots soon! :)

Very nice! Parking garages will add a nice touch. Are you modelling it based upon what's actually roadside along your route? I might have missed that in an ealier post or forgotten.

Keep up the good work!

Yes I am modelling it according to present day roadside features.

Anyway I do have a few new snaps with new Traffic lights. The poles have been reskinned.

Just wondering. What is the bumper stop in the last pic? It looks nice, and I am always looking for more good bumper stops.

The route is looking good. Very realistic.

I have screens that would be long missed in this thread, the backbone of the route. I am running a three hour FL Keys to Miami session and Frapping it too. So far I have some photos.

In 2004 FEC scouted a deal with Tropicana to set up a service to take juice train cars to the Keys to be shipped off by sea near Fleming and also trucked off to local markets.

Today, being President's day, business should be normal but they did not have enough at the moment so they cleared much of the empties for train 202.

The 202's power returned from fleming with the baretables when the two SD70M-2s uncoupled from their haul and switched the juice train reefers. The first youtube link will entail the move when I get around to posting it.

202 is off at 1208pm. Passes thru two swings and a draw over the hour.

That's a very cool session you've got going there Brickbuilder! I look forward to seeing the YouTube and more pics from it.

:)

This is looking fantastic.

Since I'm still with '06, I have to ask how is '09 compared to '06?
Does it run better on lower-end systems? Is it still the memory hog '06 was? Does it crash often?

I'm considering upgrading to '09. '06 is just becoming a pain (sucks up too much memory and crashes way too often), but I need to know if it is worth it or if I should just save my money and stick with '06 for now.

I have to ask because I'm seeing a lot of nice routes being made for '09, but I'm being left behind in '06.

Updates!

Hey all,

I have halted all activity on this route for a decent load of time, because of a hefty school project, and maybe as I fully return to this route, there will be a fresh return and lots of motivation and faith! :D

I can already forsee the fixes/addons for now thru the Summer:

For one thing, if I find a memory card for my PC I can actually convert the mainline concrete track to the one by gfisher, it is easier to get since it's on USLW and does not require tricky registration and translations

Since I have created the traffic light poles seen above, I may release a CDP soon, as I have the right to send a cdp of my work (I know that's common sense LOL) because I don't want to work my way thru DLS.

I will hopefully add to Nikos's areas before focusing on mine, since water is more see-thru now in TS2009 you can see grid in some videos/screens. Also, sometimes areas are only good for one angle only. That's what I hope to fix. I will hopefully one day have a corridor from Homestead to South Miami fully functioning, that'll be the day, with the help of many content creators including works of ish6 (everyday stores/restaurants,etc. that he previously announced before that'll be released some day (Take your time!) :) ) and maybe my GMAX works.

I will not be focusing on this route until the Summer, just wanted to share some plans of what to expect this Summer. Come August, I might have an alpha form of this route released, but WE WILL SEE THEN. No promises!

Heya Brickbuilder!

Thanks for the update and your plans. Of course your schoolwork comes first and I surely understand that!

Look forward to your return in the summer!

:)

Brick builder,
This shot is amazing. May I inquire where you got it or its name because I was looking for a bridge for my NEC route, and this is exactly what I had on my mind. Is it double or single track? Any help would be appreciated, this would be used for the potomac river crossing in my route.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I'll still create in the meantime, but it'll be minimal. :)

I am intrigues in this project but want to take my time. Expect it to be due out come mid 2010. (IT's A LOT OF ROUTE!)

I know this is part of the 7 mile bridge, I know the creator is Ben Dorsey, so it may be in his FEC downloads. Try most bridges that are objects, not splines in his category on DLS.

Finally back into this beautiful route! :D

I've been the signal maintainner in this modification.

I also worked on upgrading the overpass over one river.

Train 119 in real life WAS assigned for Jax-Ft. Pierce service but in this fictious scenario, we're pushing him and his Tropicana Juice, autos, and intermodal all the way to Key West! In real life 119 was abolished in Jan.

119 with a slow order due to malfunctioning gates

I chased this wee hour runner to Pinecrest, then left for school/breakfast.
