Fatal Error

I just installed Tranz 2012 however cant get it to work.
Every time I try to drive a "Route" the route doesnt load and my entire system crashes - the blue fatal error screen. Specifically it says that "igxpdv32.dll" is at fault for "page_fault_in_nonpaged_area".

no idea what that is but i research and looks like its something with my graphics driver. I'm on windows xp. Installed build 46957 and just upgraded to patch 49922.

Any ideas?

You are correct in saying this is likely to be your graphics driver, but you have not given us much information about your system.

Thanks Shane. I took a look at your website and used the sys info utility. here's what im running:

From that report, I've noticed two problems.

Firstly, your graphics card is an integrated Intel one, which I can confirm does not work well with Trainz.

Secondly, the free memory (and the total memory) are lower than what is required for Trainz.

Shane

ok thanks for your feedback. so

1) what can i do about my graphics card?

2) is there a list of graphics cards that Do work well with Trainz?

3) how much ram do I need? on the auran website it says 1GB is needed.

Bryan

That 1GB does not include the operating system.

I noticed from the report as well that 384MB is being used by the graphics card which means less for both Trainz and the operating system.

Your best bet is to look for a graphics card that is 'dedicated' (i.e. is not one that is built into the motherboard). Nvidia and ATI both make such cards, if you are not sure on a particular one, there are users here who can advise on how it would work with Trainz (if it will work)

Shane

ok thanks for the direction. i'll have to look into that ASAP since I'm dying to get this up and running. I'll check on the boards, but guess I should be looking for "nVidia GeForce 8800" or equivalent?

ok got it. basically looks like i'll need a new computer to run this thing. been checking some posts here and teh rec requirements arent something you can upgrade an existing PC to, from what i can tell.

wish i knew that before i purchased.
