Fatal error

I am so pissed right now. I am on the verge of giving up. This is the second time I am doing this project. It is in trainz classics. It is the metro north railroad. The first time I did this project, almost a year ago which went from GCT to Yankee stadium, and then it disappeared and can't be located. About a month ago, I have been working on a new one which went from GCT to 110th street. There is quite alot of scenery which makes the fps drop. All of a sudden, today, I have been getting fatal errors when I am working on it. Till I find a solution, I am putting it on hold. I am not deleting it because I my sole mission for trainz is to recreate the whole metro north railroad with little to no problems. :( I checked my cmp and there is nothing faulty or missing. Is there a way to prevent fatal errors. I am using trainz classics on my dell Inspiron 1545. Here are the specs.

My advice is to get TS2010. I used to have a lot of fatal errors until I got 2010. I have had no fatal errors since.

Do you think I can get it with my laptop's specs. If so, will some of trainz 2004 content on the dls work in it. Does trainz 2010 have metro north in it. If it can, then I will be more then proud to buy it because I have money set aside that is only for trainz. I can buy a whole lot of trainz payware content but never did it before. I could probably buy all of JR's payware content and trainz 12 or 2012. I know trainz 2012 want 3.4 GHZ. I only have 2.16. Is that a big problem for my laptop or I don't really have to worry?

It won't run well on that computer but from what I understand, it's a lot more stable. YMMV.

I sent you an email.

Re Harlem Line

Harlem Line (Metro North) is included in TS2010, as is Metropolis - Modula City (both routes in TC1&2). Be sure to uncheck options/surveyor/show favorites only so you will see all the routes in TS2010, not just the new ones.

Also, I have found that my Sony Viao laptop runs TS2010 better than it ran TC1&2.

Though, from what I understand, there are laptops out there that can handle trainz 2010 and 12 very good. Can the alienware and dell xps handle these well. Do you think trainz 2009 will work for me. If so, will it be stable like trainz 2010 or will it get fatal errors once in a while like trainz 2006 and trainz classics. What if I clean out my laptop, then will it work better?

I made a mistake, before my laptop had 125GB of free space. I have just cleaned out the laptop and it's is completely trainz free.:D . I have about 75cdp files backed up to my 1TB external hard drive right now. It now has 137GB of free space. Right now, I am just about to go to sleep. I'll probably do a fresh reinstall of classics in the morning. It should be moving faster than ever now when I start it up in the morning.

Yep. But, honestly, a $500 desktop will run it just as well as a $2000 laptop. Actually, one could well argue that a $200 desktop will match a $2000 laptop, at least as far as Trainz is concerned. Laptops are far behind desktops in terms of performance, and you will pay dearly for what better performance you do get out of a lappie. If portability is that vital to you, then you will need to get a high-end laptop; otherwise, save your money and buy a cheap desktop.

In the past, alot of people told me to go to my Video driver's manufacturer. I did not update it because I am not really sure how to and not going to attempt it. I seacrched up my video driver and there was a whole bunch of them for me to choose from on the website but I did not choose any of them becuase I heard that if you choose the wrong one, you can mess up your video driver. My uncle who works for IBM told me that you should wait for an update for the video driver to show up in windows update.

I went to Staples today to look at the different desktops and PC's. I saw some good desktops cost alot less and their performance and specs exceed the laptops that were nearly double the price. The price range for the desktops were around $500-$700. For the next couple of weeks, I will be looking for the different high end desktops available which will be mostly for trainz. My laptop will only be for trainz 2006 and classics. I think I would like to select a desktop with dedicated graphics, over 500GB memory, intel core i5 or intel core i7-2600k.

Or you could go to Newegg.com and buy a new graphics card or other parts for good prices. They sell Laptop and Desktop parts(and computers). You could build a really bad-butt computer for about $1000; Motherboard, graphics card, ram, processor..... The good news is you could salvage your harddrive and don't have to worry about a new OS install, unless you get a larger harddrive which I would recomend. I did the same, new harddrive. 160Gb to 500Gb :D

From what I can understand right now, the average fps on some of the medium-high end routes are 20-45fps. If trainz 2010 or 12 runs with that, I am fine by that. 60fps on a route with tons of detail would be awesome but in trainz, I have gotten used to running routes with 20-45fps and it seems smooth and not that laggy for some odd reason. I am seeing some good desktops right now. I just got an acer desktop to practice my A+ Computer Repair. I don't think it would even run trainz 2006 on it. It's from the 90's and has a pentium II processor with probably less than 1GHz. My guess is 700MHz. Can someone give me any little tips so I know what type of content should be in a computer to run trainz very well. For example, memory, speed, graphics card, etc. Right now, I am building the Hudson line and haven't gotten any fatal errors as of yet.
