Extreme Trainz Site

Hey Everyone,

I've made a little site that has a few links (for now at least) of American Content for Trainz. Just an easy way to locate a site, or look at the forums.

Nothing much, just a little link hub, I guess.

Great idea, I've been to all these sites and you've picked the good ones. It's great for people who don't want to spend days searching for all the good Trainz sites outside of the DLS, like I did. Kudos to you, but maybe you could take it a step further and include sites that require membership but still offer a boatload of content. Examples include TrainzProRoutes and AlphaTrainz. Other than that though, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Did you get permission from owners of the links?

Steveo241, I know you are only young, however did you get permission from the authors of every link, within those sites?

The reason is that quite a lot state that you can't upload anywhere else without [usually written] permission from the author(s).

For example:
This model is for your personal use only, and may not under any circumstances be sold or distributed in any way whatsoever. It must not be uploaded onto any website nor distributed via CD without permission
I would presume that "in any way" means how you have done it.

And besides, Trainz already has a "hub" (as you call it) of sites on one of their pages.

So the guy puts up a small website with a few links to other websites... I see nothing wrong with that. Has he uploaded any content to the site? None that I see. No problem?

Links are not an upload

And the Trainz hub and you call it has not been undated thre several years still! The Trainz community web ring is not even monitored anymore I don't think! if what is there no longer exists or functions, then what is wrong with a new try! This is called free enterprise.

There's nothing wrong with links...

There's no files on there, but just a couple of links to other sites. It's not any other's content.

He's done nothing wrong. In fact, I can only see ways this will help increase the popularity of others websites. He's not running some free-payware scheme, or altering someone's creations and offering them as his own...

I like the idea, and think you should consider adding even more to it, Steveo! Good work!

Hiya's,

I think the free and pay wording are leading some people to the wrong conclusions maybe

These are just links to the 2 types of items as such

Imho no game/sim forum can have too many links

Anyways i'm all for links as long as they get updated if needbe once in a while :)

Happy Rollingz

Updates!

Hey People,

I've added some new stuff to the site, and sorry that I haven't responded in a long time. But, as I said, there are new links, and I'm going to get serious about maintaining Extreme Trainz. The Organized Site...for Sites!

Hi Steveo241,

It's a nice little site, but hey man you really do have some competition. Most of the active Trainz sites out there have extensive Links pages along with a host of other material. My Trainz Resources Directory for example, lists almost 150 sites with information about what they offer as well as a link to the site. I'm now listing foriegn language sites and offering English Translation when you click a link. That will take the count to well over 200. The directory actually replaces the Trainz Web Ring which should have died years ago. I closed it down a long time ago, but Braveheart the hosting service responsible haven't pulled the plug. The Web Ring is just one of those things in Cyber Space that won't go away. Please don't promote it because as Monkeywrench has already pointed out, it's not supported in any way.

Hi Johnk,

I'm not sure what this web ring thing is, but I can see at least a few people like my directory. I wasn't trying to promote it, it is just a little website where I have a few links to places. I honestly don't care about competition, nor do I ever want to have a competition with any of you (I've seen how ugly they can get). So I'll just add my favorite links, and you can add to your Resource Directory, and we can go on happy.

Thank you,

Steve
