Hi all,

I am recording the "ExtremeTrains" series which is being shown on the History channel nightly and I was wondering if anyone knew how many episodes there are in total. I am up to six at the moment and when I've seen the DVD set for sale in shops, there are only three episodes in the set!.

Thanks for any help

Chris

1. Coal Train - November 11, 2008 - Journey of a Norfolk Southern coal train from a coal mine to a PPL Electric power station in Pennsylvania

2. Freight Train - November 18, 2008 - High priority freight train from Los Angeles to Dallas/Fort Worth

3. High Speed Train - November 25, 2008 - Riding the Acela train from Union Station (Washington) to South Station (Boston)

4. Ice Cold Express - December 2, 2008 - A look into refrigeration trains

5. Steam Train - December 9, 2008 - A journey with the Union Pacific 844 steam locomotive

6. Overnight Traveller - December 16, 2008 - Riding Amtrak's Empire Builder train from Chicago to Seattle

7. Circus Train - December 23, 2008 - The circus train from Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey

8. Transcontinental - December 30, 2008 - The Union Pacific Transcontinental line from Omaha to Sacramento

Unfortunately, only eight episodes were made due to the show not getting high enough ratings.

Thanks for the info guys.

After tonights episode, it'll be just one more then.Shame because they are pretty interesting especially as it's about trains on your side of the pond which I don't know that much about!

Had a quick look at one episode tonight about UP844 - Now that's pretty impressive and a bit of a beast!!

And the presenter is a bit enthusiastic as well!

Cheers again

A victim of rudeness, hatred, jealousy by the targeted viewers...

 There was a loud, Internet protest about the personality of the host of the show, on every railfan forum on the Web...all of them...:o

We could have had a second season, third & more if not for the hateful response by the US-American railfan community, including Trains Magazine forum community.:n:

One person even suggested he was an employee of CSXT, then berated the host of the series to the ground...funny, as CSXT was a major advertiser for the series.

All the cab rides, dispatch center visits, major corridor trips, etc were evidently not what the railfan community wanted. Dozens of employees contributed interviews and explanations on the operations of America's railroads.:(

So, now we have "Swamp People," "Billy the Exterminator," "Ice Road Truckers," "Pawn Stars," etc, going season to season for the railfan community!:hehe:

It was not the ratings that killed "Extreme Trains," it was the loud protest from the railfan community, against a railroad conductor for Pan Am Railways.

"Only In America"...:'(
