OK - not sure what sort of response this will get, but how about a quick guessing game?

How many new loco skins will be released to coincide with the route?

;)

Well as competitions go that wasn't exactly a resounding success!

So lets try it this way - count 'em!

locos.jpg

First Row: EVWR - a pair of GP38-2s bracketing the line's sole SD60
Second Row: EVWR - all three of the line's SD40-2s
Third Row: Leasers - four GMTX GP28-2s, two resplendent in official blue and white scheme plus the terrible twins, ex CR patch and ex CSX Pumpkin MOW patch, plus a HLCX ex-BN Whiteface SD40-2.
Fourth Row: Freelance SWMX Units, two ex-BN SD40-2s plus an ex CR SD40-2 and an ex CR GP38-2 lettered for the 'Sabic' plant on the route. The SW1500 hiding at the rear is another Sabic freelance skin from Cody (2Wayne).
Fifth Row: Three Savatran Gevos in bue and white Penn State football colours.

I make that 19 units all up. One freeware SW1500 and a pack of eighteen units from Jointed Rail, all new, all payware quality but best of all thanks to the splendid generosity of the lads at Jointed Rail - all free! Yep, not a cent and that includes the Gevos. A HUGE thankyou for that.

Also a HUGE HUGE thankyou to Mick (Matruck) who skinned all the proto units, some of which were a real challenge. All the proto leasers are units which actually are or have been leased to the line. Thanks mate! Thanks also to Cody for the ex CR Sabic plant switcher which will be available from 2wayne.com 'soon'.

At the moment the JR units are all seperate assets, but some of them will get 'condensed'. The three Savatran Gevos will be a single model with some ARN tweaks from Justin that will only allow it to show the three correct (non-sequential) prototype numbers.

The locos will be released to coincide with the release of the route which should be in the next two or three weeks. Stay tuned...

Andy ;)

What a gesture from JR and Mick, for the locos, and what an effort by you too make such a beautiful layout. May i be a pain and ask what other RR's should run along here prototypically?

Jamie

Very welcome Andy! I am so excited for this route to come out! More or less I will be spending hours on this!

Route looks great!!! The units look incredible as well - can't wait to see the route and start servicing the many industries!!!

I was under?:hehe: I counted 12. If you want to get really technical and forget about ARN, it's 19. So much better than just two units for EK3.

I'm looking forward to running on this route, but, is there any plans to have sessions made for this route?

Yes. Fred Dugger has a couple in the pipeline to be released with the route and the potential for new sessions on this one is just about infinite....

Most of the local traffic and unit trains that load/unload on the route are handled by EVWR locos and crews. CSX coal with run-through power into SWMC is not common, but not impossible either! Portal to Portal traffic on the main line though could include BNSF unit grain to the Abengoa Energy ethanol plant (off map to the East, but will be on the Stage 2 route - loads eastbound, empties west). BNSF unit trains have over-nighted at SWMC at least once. NS and/or CN power are not common, but the line interchanges (or soon will) with both. NS Gevos occassionally run the Savatran coal trains (2+1 DPU), which is again portal to portal through traffic on this version of the route. The line also interchanges with UP, but I have yet to see a pic of UP power on this part of the line...

Andy :)

... Actually taken on EVWR1, but with the track now prototypically singled because I no longer have to worry about portals at the Eastern end of the route! :)
