I usually just open the main forum page and click "What's New?" at the top.

Me too but for some reason Andy's thread and a few others never show up for me when there are new posts. That's the quirky behavior of the new forum I was talking about.

Empty unit grain from Abengoa Bioenergy heads west through Mt Vernon IN en route to the BNSF interchange at Mt Vernon IL...

I just spotted a new thread for 'unlikely lashups' (ho hum) - maybe I shoulda posted this shot there instead ;)

@ are these screenshots in default condition or you do some photoshopping with them and with their brightness or something

Basically they are straight out of the camera. I do tweak the brightness histogram, but generally only to bump it very slightly towards the center, say 5% or so onto the top and off the bottom which does serve to boost apparent contrast a bit. Very occassionally I can get away with sharpening a close-up, but SpeedTrees (or at least Pofig's trees) generally look pretty bad if sharpened even slightly. So pretty much what you see is what I get. I have everything maxed so the sim doesn't actually run all that well (which doesn't worry me), but the screencaps are nice!

The biggest difference though is made not by tweaking but by cropping. The Trainz cameras put the 'subject' dead center, a photo looks better with the subject off-center. My screenshots are captured at 1920 x 1080. I DON'T resize, I crop them to either 1600 x 900 or 1600 x 750 to get the subject where I want it....

Neat shots

Nice work on the scenery Andy.

I particularly like the use of the white flowered weeds contrasted against the darker coloured hedgerows in your last shot. That's a great technique which I've not seen used at that nice low angle - I'll be using that one!;)

Thanks.

Cheers
Casper

Thanks Casper!

GMTX 2655 and 2651 appear together in a large number of prototype EVWR photos. Mick has had the ex-Conrail #2651 available for a while, but he just got done with the ex-CSX MOW Pumpkin unit GMTX #2655. Grown men have wept getting that skin right, it was a real challenge but I reckon he has pretty much nailed it....
