Over the last week i was in formed by my son and some members of this forum that there has been emails sent to people in my contact list without my knowledge
i would just like to state that i do not sent emails of that nature to any person and never would,
so i am very sorry for any trouble it may have caused to anyone and i
have taken steps to stop this from happening again
however if any person does recieve one of these after this date 10/11/2011 then please let me know
i don't know why public floggings are not manditory for these type of things,
have you ever been hit with a stock wipe, i have, it changes your way of thinking real fast.
please do understand i would not send emails like this to any person regardless.
kindest regards
steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for letting us know. This happens from time to time, and there's really not much you can do at your end other than changing your password. This seems to be the solution to this problem.

@Wayne. GMail isn't a great as you think. They spy on your emails and then send you advertisements based on keywords in your messages.

yes it is hotmail first time in ten or so year it has ever happend to me

I too have a hotmail account, and I've been lucky. I've had the account for probably the same amount of time. The thing is, I periodically change my password, and use a rather secure one to boot.

just a thought.

Steve 123,
You wouldn't have your e mail address visible in your profile would you ?

It's quite possible your email address was obtained from one of your contacts accounts or PC's or even spoofed to look like it came from you.
Doesn't always follow that you or your email has been hacked.

It happen to me too with gmail. Something figured out my fairly simple password I've had for years and sent out crazy emails to everyone in my contact list. Simple fix just though just came up with a more secure password.

About 5 weeks ago i recieved an email from one of my mates, but at that time he was in Bali for 10 days and what the email was is one of those emails that state how to earn money at home on your computer and because it was a mate i opened it, plus it came to my inbox, a when he came home i contacted him and of cause like myself he new nothing about it and i thought no more of it until i was told of my emails

Never open questionable E-Mail from stupid sounding names, made up by illiterate scamers in Somalia: Gwendalahara Ramadingdong wants to chat, or the famous one: The FBI has money for you ! HaRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

Send them to your Spam Mail box, and delete them.

Small correction John - whilst they do read email content for advertising purposes, it's all automated and done by a computer, so no humans can read your messages.

Happened to me twice in 2 years, the irony is, on my email list is the MD of Microsoft Research Cambridge - he either thinks I have cracked up or put me in his ignore list (or both) !

....The thing is, I periodically change my password, and use a rather secure one to boot....

Seems to be the best answer for us mere mortals.

It's getting hard to remember where i live and what i went to the shed to do or get let alone where i left every bodys email address,
i was driving the car the other week to the hardware and half way there i forgot what i was going there for,,such is life
