Eldavo's HTAs

Hi folks. I've tried to find an answer on this before but with no joy so was hoping someone out there has experienced the same problem and can help me.

I use Eldavo's EWS HTAs (drawbar and dual drawgear versions) kuid2:75134:150044:3 and kuid2:75134:150047:1 quite a lot and when placing them in surveyor, they all look fine. The couplers and brake pipes all appear as they're meant to, albeit, the pipes aren't connected.

When I switch to driver, only the dual drawgear HTAs at each end of the consist are displaying correctly and the couplers are missing from everything else although the pipes now show as connected.

The only conflict I can see are that some of the assets relating to the hoses and couplers that are obsolete and wondered if these are in some way interfering with the updates?

The warning I get on these is
The file '\coupler.lm' is provided in LM format despite having no attachment points and no animation support. This may have a negative impact on performance.

Is this negative impact I'm seeing here and if so, what is the fix.

Many thanks.
PFX.

I have a few with the lm format error and to be honest leave them just in case I mess them up.
I think i've seen an idea to run them through the PM to IM tool and maybe alter the config.

The lm format is an older type of lod. Basically it is a list of the meshes and when to make the lod change. If an lod level saves less than 500 polys then the theory is it's not worth doing.

So edit the config.txt so that it points to one of the meshes directly. For <kuid2:75134:15018:3> for example in the config.txt file just change

"coupler.lm" to "Buckeye Coupler.im"

Save and it should be error free plus it may even give you half a frame rate better performance.

Thanks John. Would that also then cure the missing coupler issue too?

Sometimes its worth playing with the coupler kuids and trying a different kuid.

For example replace <kuid2:75134:15006:2> in the kuid list with something else. So find a wagon with couplings you like then copy the numbers in. I'd make a copy of config.txt to configold.txt first in case you make a mistake.

I'm trying to stick with prototypical drawbar coupling but on trying to make the same change as you suggested previously, to one of the other couplers, I got an error message telling me the mesh I was directing the config towards didn't exist. When I came to revert to original though, it cleared the error which was interesting.

I'll try the same for the rest and see if I can replicate this.

Thanks.
Innis.

Update. Hi John. Following your advice for the <kuid2:75134:15018:3> I've managed to clear all the warnings. Great, thanks. Now to see if it works...

Wibble, wibble!

Despite there now being no error on any of the couplers or hoses, still no sign of them in driver. I give up.
