Edmonton Transit Centennial celebration

Long time train lover
This past week our City Transit system celebrated its 100 year centennial and with this celebration they compleatly restored the very first 1908 Streetcar that ran on the streets of Edmonton.

On October 29, 1908 streetcar #1 seen in below photo started its service along with its twinrunning between what was known as the Edmonton and Strathcona link. This trip involved a ride over the High level bridge that is still to this day the highest streetcar bridge in the world seen in image below (the high black steel sructure).

In 1951 This streetcar was the last to run on the streets of the city and the only one to survive the closure of the service in one piece; however ravages of weather and vandalism took their toll on car #1 as it sat outside the Cromdale garage for over a decade.
Major restoration has been done to the car thanks to the thousands of hours of volinteer work by members of the Edmonton radial railway society. The restored streetcar was unvailed at Fort Edmonton park june 5, 2008 (a historical site located in the heart of the city's river vally) and will run passenger service in the park. For the centennial celebration it was delivered to downtown Edmonton.

If your looking for more information feel free to ask in this thread and i will do my best to answer.
