the process of editing tga files with GIMP is so easy now and im about to give out the steps soon im going to make a video.

1. right click on the TGA file and click on edit with GIMP.
2. GIMP will open up and then you see the image you want to edit.
3. if gimp doesn't have all the tools you want to edit your image with then go to file click on save as then a menu will come up and go to the bottom of that menu and look for file extension type with a + in a box then go down to bmp and click on it, then press save as.
4. go back to the folder with all the parts of your train, track, etc. and you will see your image in bmp format and in tga format.
5. right click on your bmp image and click edit, now your image is able to edit with paint.net so you can do what ever you want(EDITING) with the image.
6. after your done editing save the image as a tga then a menu pop saying overwrite the changes, click yes.
7. go back to your folder and delete the bmp image and open up the tga image with GIMP.
8. go to file, click on save as and the file extension menu will pop up from #2 that i was talking about and save as tga then it will sat replace or cancel click replace, then another menu will pop up click on export and another menu will say rle compressed with a check, uncheck it and its all saved.
9. close out the GIMP and the other folders and commit the changes and launch your trainz.

if this wasn't understandable let me know. and later on in the week im going to make a hand held video and show you how to edit your accessories in trainz with GIMP.

Hmm, I don't wanna be a party pooper :hehe: , but I fail to understand why you cannot edit your texture(s) in Gimp itself and have to jump through all kinds of hoops to get it in paint.net, whatever that is...:)

Greetings from puzzled Amsterdam,

What I don't understand is why you don't edit directly in GIMP, its far more powerful than paint.net.

Cheerio John

you can edit it in GIMP but im saying that you can use paint.net for some things if GIMP doesn't have what you want or if its too confusing. the BMP part is just a suggestion:) :)

I'm glad to read that you have taken the time to do it yourself ... good luck!!!

When you reskin the signs e-mail him, and make a note of it if you upload to the DLS ... if it's for your personnel use then there's no need to ask.

Excellent .... as soon as you got something to show us just post up a screen shot!!

Sometimes is wise to pick up the paint brush, and just do it ... now, there's no need to ask anyone to reskin .... however, if you need help now that you know the first steps let me know by posting on this thread, which will then give others the opportunity to express their thoughts also!!

Lastly, I'm glad to read that you asked Jeff for help since your reskins are his originals ... like I've said, he's great guy!!

BTW -- Next month will begin fixing those errors on my traction package that you have! And then perhaps upload it if the DLS is fix!!
