Editing .texture Files

This is getting slightly off-topic, but I am interested by Cascade's night time cab project. I had been experimenting with reskinning an interior to a dark lighting that could work either day or night. I've tried to make the controls look like the dials are lit up for example. But ultimately what I'd love to see is a cab that will switch between a daylight and nighttime mode automatically in response to the time of day. I could probably create the two modes and you're doing a very nice job with the cab (love the lighting on the back of the control stand), but I would have no idea how to make it switch back and forth. Is that part of your project? Or are you just trying to make a cool static night cab for a nighttime layout?

I usually run at night, and set my start up time to @ 4:00 AM

I will run my darkened cabs in daylight also, as I dislike the pale robin egg blue Gen_sd interior (that is used in oh so many loco's).

As like I have done with all my Paintshed sliding paper cutout trucks, replacing them with animated trucks, I obsolete the built in trucks and cabs on my Trainz installation.

It would be nice if there was a cab light on/off switch ... but then again we don't even have a cab "bell" button on the control stand yet.

I am going to add reskinning detail colors to the "Dials to make them appear lit up, possibly a bright phosphoresent yellow.
