ECML for TS2010

I would like to see the full ECML route available as an add-on for TS2010, preferably with a discount for those of us who bought TS12.

I have managed to merge the Newcastle-York part with the original York-Kings Cross. This needed the obs file removing from the route to get it into TS2010. Thus I have the route with only track and splines in the Northern part. I am gradually filling in the rest manually and hope to have it done by the time I retire in five years :o Any Chance then?

Hi, wouldn,t it be far easier to buy TS12? There are more scenarios and an improved HUD with AWS. I just installed it and drove a class 47 hauling a mail train from Peterborough to Spalding where I "saved" it and it was great. It was about as close to the real deal as you could reasonably expect from a train simulator.

I have bought TS12. It doesn't work! Routes are messed up when you try to work on them. None of my sessions for ECML or Settle and Carlisle work in TS12. As far as I can tell two of the three built in ECML sessions work properly either. I will probably use it eventually but not before it has been fixed.

What is the problem Geoff, 12 runs perfect for the vast majority of us, let us know what it is that you can't get working and we'll try and get you fixed and running.

Sorry to hear of your problems with TS12. I,ve only just installed it and so far I,ve only completed the first two tutorials and part of an ECML scenario. You also said you couldn,t work on the route because it was messed up. When I first got 2010 and tried to edit the ECML I kept losing my work. Since then I realised you must do everything in route except for everything in the locomotive tab and session rules. And never ever try to add a point switch in sessions (track not lever or point motor). No idea why you can,t add a session unless it has pre 2010 content. Biggest disapportant in 2010 for me was having to give up on the ECML because my old Dell 5150 couldn,t handle it. Now I have a top end gaming machine and it,s wonderful being able to drive a train with no jerkiness.

Are you sure, so e.g. ECML Hull Executive work for you without problem and with Norfolk&Western Appalachian Coal you have no problems? And you have no problems with 'save' and 'merge' function too?

Thanks for the offer, that is very kind of you.
I can however get everything working eventually, it's just the work involved in doing so.
When I save a built in route, say the ECML or S&C to another name it is screwed up. I don't have to do anything to it, it does it on its own. I have a recent clean install of TS12 - no updates have been applied.
Most of the things that are screwed up are splines, but I have now discovered that my sessions do not work because of missing trackmarks. They are still there in the built-in but missing in the clone.
@celje I'm not alone then, I was beginning to feel paranoid.

Hello geoffwilliams

no, you are not alone, some kind of quasi politeness is shown about TS12. I said a couple of times that TS12 is sensitive, unpredictable and not accurate enough and he need upgrade with SP3.

The merge and save issues have been reported to N3V, they are aware of the issue, but there is no resolution at this time.

Hello JCitron
I reported the problems on helpdesk too, and much more. It's about 8 months when i'm working on new route and session for TS12. I sent them (N3V) unfinished route and session, so they can see where the problems are. I hope that SP3 will be out soon.

All the better, Celjie. This makes the issue more "important" and pressing, so perhaps this will bring out an SP3 soon (tm).

My latest thoughts on TS12. I have now completed the first 3 tutorials. Tutorials are the same as 2010. ECML, which is of special interest to me, I have succeeded in driving the Mail train to a point between Boston and Skegness where once again I ran out of time and had to pause it. I found 2 faults. One was a long wait for the "right of way" from the guard at Hecklington (I think thats what it,s called) and the other was the schedule timings are too tight. Notably Spalding - Sleaford and 3 minutes to run round at Sleaford is not enough. In the real world it would be nearer 10 minutes. But I am still giving it a score of 8/10 as in every other respect it is excellent. As I said in my previous post It has a realistic feel about it which is quite an achievement. This was aided by the fact that I experienced no lag or split second freezing. As a footnote I,m going to look in surveyor to see if I can improve those two issues I mentioned.
