Hey all!
My family is wanting to take a trip out east and are wanting to know of any tourist lines out there. So far, we know of Cass Scenic. We are looking for any lines that are a 2 day drive (or about a 1000 miles away for those of you who do not live Texas). I am aware of some in Texas and we want to get out of the state. Can any one set us on the right track?
(pun intended)

P.S. If you dig out the ruler, we are south west of Austin(the capital)

If you are considering Cass, you may also want to consider the Western Maryland Scenic Railway or the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railway. There are some others in the West Virginia, Maryland area, but they tend to be more of the seasonal dinner train types. There are also several railroad museums in the area.

Also might be worth considering the Strasburg Railroad in Lancaster County, PA. It as also right across the way from the PA Railroad museum. Also a lot of PA Dutch and Amish culture in the area as well.

I am sure others may offer up more, but have not seen much outside of a 3 hour radius from Wash DC. (I live in MD north west of DC).

Wishing you a great vacation.

Thanks Patric! Those seeme helpfull. I always wanted to go to Strasbourg, yet I think the gas prices will limit us this year.

Could always come further north pending the budget on gas to the Valley Railroad in Connecticut, could always hit up other places on the way up or on the way back, would make an awesome road trip.

Of course with the price of gas touching 4 dollars a gallon and even more on the interstates at 4.19 here it is a very unlikely anyone can travel far unfortunately.
