East Kentucky

Fantastic shots... all of them! That last one especially. Very striking, yet beautiful.
(Sorry of that seemed a bit strange. It's 3 in the morning here, and my brain is mush.)
But seriusly. Great job.:Y:

Andy my man!

I know you're spending a lot of time setting up these shots instead of working on the route so that you can release it for us in my lifetime :hehe: {giggle, chortle}, but can you, in your spare time, tell me whose loco that is in the 2nd last pic - CSX #2700. Some outstanding weathering there.

Most of those shots aren't set-ups, they are just quick PrtScn's from the trackside cameras while doing test runs, so not too much route-building time sacrificed :)
No promises, but if your lifetime lasts till Christmas there is half a chance the route will be done and dusted by then, very early 2011 at the worst.

Lovely isn't it - Jointed Rail CSX GP38-2 (YN2). Payware I'm afraid, but iirc it is about seven bucks well spent...

Andy :)

Power move, just for Gus :)

Andy...

I was recently down in southwest VA which is very close to EK and all I saw in the towns of Clinchfield and Honaker was NS. I didn't get into downtown Bluefield but I'll bet that was the same.

Wow, great shots of those NS high-hoods and the CSX power move there Dermmy!

Keep it up and can't wait for this release!

:)

Great pic from the past!! Andy will love this, you will probably see an updated shot from the same place now...

Mike

Geez! Somebody must have sprayed Agent Orange all over those hills! :)

But seriously folks...I still have the original East Kentucky installed and have spent many hours haulling coal from those tipples. Heck...its where I learned to use the "Release Junction" rule... Keep 'em coming Andy.

Cheers,
Fred

Another L&N Ride This Route Reminds Me Of.

Man, this route keeps reminding me of various trips to the L&N. One of them, was in 1973, and three Louisville and Nashville F7s had a general merchandise freight and I was riding along and along the way, we passed a coal train handled by a pair of GP9s, and of the power lashup, there were two Penn Central GP9s on the train, which I can honestly declare was strange to see PC power on an L&N train. I must admit, the PC power was miles away from home rails, but it was a site to see.

Running around empty hoppers at East Kentucky Power's Hazard Steam Plant, a freelance inclusion to give an on-map destination for all that coal.

My 3,000th post!

Andy ;)

Congrats on the 3,000th post and on an amazing pic Andy. The Steam Plant looks like it took a fair bit of work to put together thanks for all the hard work.
Cheers Mick.
