You mentioned earlier in this thread that the route is for 2010. Nonetheless, it will have to be run in compatibility mode, right? In native mode, the trees and shrubs will look pretty awful.

What would happen if the route were installed in 2006? Sounds like a silly question, but I have no idea. Will it fail to install?

Hi Gus - yes the route is for TS2010 SP3 Compatibility Mode only.

Trainzbuild is 3.3, so I am afraid it will not install into earlier versions...

Wonderful screenshots which have all the hallmarks of a truly creative and inspired route.

Packed with great perspective, realistic colour balance, beautifully chosen and placed assets, attention to detail and a whole load of enthusiasm.

Nice work Andy!:Y:

In post/pic #332 above, what trees and grass are you using? Nothing that I've experimented with in 2010 compatibility mode comes even close to looking that good. In fact, everything in the way of grass and trees in 2010 looks pretty awful. What's the secret??

Incredible...an Aussie can beat us at our own game (or at least BUILDING it)! Awesome job, Dermmy; it's been a pleasure seeing your work on this route really come along. Keep it up.

Dermmy I swear you have a magic camera. Your screen shots
far surpass anything esle available.

Yeah there are some great screen shots.

But Dermmy rules in this respect.

Care to share your secret?

Great work. I envy your abilities.

No secret - trees, shrubs, grass and track are all Trunda's, available here and here.

They are absolutely splendid in TS2010 SP3 Compatibility Mode.

Again no secret - the following is a slightly edited copy/paste from USLW's forum where I was asked a similar question just a couple of days ago...

There is a little bit of photoshopping, but honestly not much. I find the jpgs out of TS2010 are pretty dark and 'flat', so there is a bit of brightness and contrast added and sometimes a slight tweak around the middle of the histogram makes them pop. Some are (slightly) sharpened, most aren't.

Composition? Mostly just a quick PrtScn from a trackside camera but I have been known to spend over an hour setting something up. The screenie in Post #319 was a quickie from a trackside camera, the one in Post #325 was a five minute set-up actually trying to shoot something else, but that composition just fell in as I was panning the camera...

Cropping? Most Trainz screenies have the camera focused on the lead loco, and that generally puts the loco slap bang centre of the screen. Centre is not always best, off centre generally gives better visual impact. Most screenie are cropped about 1600 x 750 from a 1680 x 1050 original. Not much, but it makes a difference. The two referenced above are cropped smaller, 1200 x whatever worked.

Re-size? Never. TS2010 screencaps are somewhat compressed and re-sizing gives a very second-rate image that can't always be sharpened back. You could get away with a re-size when the screencap was a tga.
