East Broad Top Route

With the majority of NG RR's being 3 foot gauge ... There sure aren't allot of tracks to choose from ... Most look absolutely terrible, and have a kinky repeat rate in turnouts, especially all the Man6 tracks.

I need a standard gauge, a dual gauge, and a narrow gauge, track that looks fairly realistic (as MP Track Wood v2 and MP Rusty look fairly good, and bend fantasticly).

reposting from earlier with correct punctuation. Indeed it is a shame unless one of us wins the lottery, all we can do is pray that kovalchick will realize he is expecting to much from those that want to lease the line and operate it and Back down on his Restrictionsm such as he doesn't want the trackage extended at All, Which is what many leasers want to do.
I did read that at least one leaser wanted to start work on Restoring as far south as saltillo, and North to shirleysburg, and kovalchick Said no

was in a major rush when i originally wrote this, i do hope this clears it up

yes someone please help out with this, in the past i have tried to get someone to help me out with it, but it seems there aren't many people who are willing to do track work for others.

we would like to have track that accurately resembles what the EBT had on the line

their process of track work was to tamper boney over the ties to hide them underground, this helped preserve the ties and prevent them from shifting due to flood areas cause by the winter thaws, this way of doing it left only the rails showing if i'm not mistaken the line was 150lb rail set to a 36in gauge with the exception of standard/dual gauge in mount union but with the same principle in the use of boney.

also as well we'd like to have this rail look good which means a little more 3d than what trainz normally has to offer (i call it the steel band effect) meaning where it looks like the trains are running on a flat strip of steel, what cascade has is a good set of track and more realistic than most of what can be found, but not accurate

if anyone can help with this please step forward because we'd really like your help

also forgot to mention that to make whoever wants to build this track life easier, i have everything you could possibly need to model the track (data wise not texture wise)

I am really satisfied with chunky mesh, MP Wood Track v2 by philskene
Josefpav built all the rest of the MP Tracks, and they curve fabulously, and have a great looking rail texture.

It must be easier to build MP chunky mesh tracks like his ... but I have never seen any other good quality chunky mesh tracks that have a rail like his, and do not kink at all in turnouts.

Almost all other tracks out there kink horribly in turnouts.

MP Rusty is probably what I am looking for, as the EBT probably did not run enough trains to shine up the rail head.

If someone could build a 36" NG "MP Rusty"
And a dual gauge (SG/NG) "MP Rusty"

I would be very happy with that type of chunky mesh tracks.

This route is coming along rather nicely, and I will be releasing a freeware WIP before Christmas.

As there are no textures, no flora, nor buildings, and the track is still hanging up in the air, floating 10m above the ground, and is presently ungraded ... There is nothing to see in a screenshot ... Nothing to see ... Move along, Move along ... Nothing to see !

bahahaha nice cascade, stillwould be ice to see regardless of what stage it is in

and i'm always wondered how you get the track to hover like that would make building things so much easier for me to learn

Good morning all! I'm here to revive this EBT route thread. And om going to do it with some very exciting news!!! So since the new year, I've been working on my own version of the East Broad Top Railroad for Trainz 22 (Quite the jump since Trainz 12, lol). My version beign set sometime in the early 50s, when the railroad was in full swing. Anyways, I started out with the same DEM from the DLS that the previous people of this thread did. So in the 4 months thay ive been aorking o. This project, I've gotten all the way from Orbisonia all the way to just shy of Mt Union. My hopes are to have Orbisonia to Mt Union done by this summer at which point I'll be releasing it as freeware on Nugget Trainz and hopefully the DLS...regardless it will be FREE!!! It's about high time this community gets an EBT route. Now as far as pictures go, I dont really understand the whole uploading pictures to another website just to post in these threads, so instead to showcase my progress, I shall post a YouTube link for those of you (if any, i know this thread is very much dead) decide you are interested. Cheers! And I hope yall enjoy...

How about the section to Saltillo as well since the real railroad is restoring that section for tourist trains, when trains start using it, it will be the first time since April 1956 that any wheels have rolled on the rails about 1/2 mile south of Rockhill toward Saltillo. I want to build that section in my incomplete route. The thread was over 10 years old and you revived it Axis, but shouldn't you have started your own thread? I can't wait to see your route released even if it's just the section north of Rockhill. I never visited the railroad in real life.

So the eventual plan is to complete all 33 miles of mainline, from Mt Union to Robertsdale. However I thought rather than to hold the route in limbo for ages, that I'd release sections as I go along. That being said, 1st release will be Rockhill northward to Mt Union. Second release will see us going south to Saltillo and onward to Robertsdale.

So this month's update on the EBT involved me taking a trip up to the EBT and taking a ton of reference photos. I then proceeded to go back and redo alot of places topography wise. From there, I started the monstrous task of detailing Mt Union. It is now in the very early stages of development. All 3 Refractories has been mapped and laid out. Additionally, Mt Union yard was reworked so now it has the proper elevations (its a very weird yard in that there's different levels to different parts of the yard). The yard is still in development and very much subject to change. Also in development is a custom asset I'm having made specifically for this route which is the Mt Union coal wash plant (it's coming along very nicely). Other than that, my time last month was spent entirely working on redoing 50% of the route that was already made. The issue was that I was going off of Google maps for scenes up until about 4 weeks ago. Then I started using 1957 aerial views of the area. Believe it or not, a lot has changed from the 50s to now, so alot of stuff had to be or is being reworked. I'll post an update video below. It's more or less a run through of the entire route as it stands currently.

Enjoy!

Hello everyone. It's been another month so here's another update for you guys. Detailing is now 90% complete up to and including allenport. Additionally 3 key assets have been made for the route. These are the Mt Union Coal Wash plant, EBT Timber Transfer, and the Mt Union watertank. They have all been imported to the game and will be released with the route. Last but certainly not least, I have recieved permission from @Railwoodman to merge the EBT with 2 sections of his Pitts to Philly route. This will accomplish several things with the primary 3 things being better trackwork then i wouldve done, better geographical DEM data, and this will mean the EBT route will be fully integratable with the Pitts to Philly route. So in theory, 1 could transfer coal from EBT hoppers into PRR hoppers and take them all the way to Pittsburg or Philadelphia. So a huge thank you to @Railwoodman for letting us use a part of his route. All credit for the PRR trackage goes to him however other detailing on these sections have yet to be done.

Now to answer a question many have been asking me. When, where, and how much will this route cost?
When? The route will hopefully be finished and released by the end of this summer.
Where? The route and custom assets will be released on Nugget Trainz
How much? I an sticking to my original statement which is that it will be released as freeware. However I would veyr highly encourage all who download this route to donate at least $10 to the East Broad Top Foundation or Friends of The East Broad Top. My fellow developers and myself made this route out of a love for the railroad and wanting to recreate and relive the EBT's history. However this history wouldn't have been saved without countless donations from people who love the railroad like we do. So I'd really appreciate if you guys would keep that in mind later on when downloading the route😃

With that PSA out of the way, here is a link to this month's video

If this is payware, then you need to start a thread in the Payware Announcement forum and not tack it onto a long dead thread. If it isn't payware then make a thread in the Freeware Announcement forum.
