Yes they do. They also plan to buy the railroad from the Kovalchicks who have owned it since it closed in revenue service. I hope they can get some grants as their operable car fleet is a fraction of what it could be, the shops are requiring attention (roof strength concerns and such), and more. The first time I went over was Fall Spectacular 2000 or so and they had 14 and 15 running passenger trains, 17 on a freight, and M1 made a couple trips. 16 was pulled out into the yard and M7 wasn't even needed. I would love to see all those steamers operable again, even though 18 hasn't turned a wheel since 1953 (EBT originally closed in 1955) and though she'd be a bit excessive for tourist service, they could make the claim of largest narrow gauge steamer east of the Mississippi, I'd bet. Just the claim of having 6 unique operable narrow gauge 2-8-2s and a priceless Brill railbus would be enough to attract attention, and the amount of buildings and track/roadbed there available to restore would be incredible if it reached its full potential. A perfectly preserved coal railway serving several company towns. With 6 locos, they could do a Nevada Northern type thing and let people run one around the yard. And Fall Spectaculars would again be spectacular.
I like the new controlling owners ,the east broad top rr preservation group or something like that. Larry Salone seems to know what he is doing, after all, they had a profitable season last year for the first time since the line shut down back in 1956. all I can tell them is this, keep going, your doing fine to get this railroad back to the former glory it was. @simulator, They have recently opened another mile of track towards Robertsdale, they had to stop like 25 feet short of the route 475(?) crossing, south of the yards. even though it is only open to the speeders (all 7 are back home for the first time ever since The Kovolachecks opened it as a tourist line), It is progress and it is a desire to go in the right way. They were already working on opening more track... until somebody stole over a mile of rail. They got it back, but it was cut into 10' lengths.
the EBT put 17 whitsle on the 15 for the fall spectauer last year.I'd like to see that myself!![]()

if the the EBT invite the tweetsie to bring 12 and 190 to the ebt for the fall specatur with TRR 12 and EBT 15 doublehead on the shade gap picnic train and TRR 190 on the passenger train and coal train. then at the noon whistle blowing the tweetsie engines frist blow there whistle then ebt 15 whistles and all engines whistle with 15 last one whistleing.I remember that annoying me when they had 14, 15, and 17 running... It sure wouldn't now!
all the yard for the most part is still intact. of course, some of the yard was lost when the bank and McDonalds went in but, the location of the wye in Mount Union is still clear of development. they have lost quite a few stations, and only a couple water towers still exist, so they would have to rebuild them on the northern portion, and no idea about the stone bridge right out of Mount Union, by the bare eye, and a gelogical survey a decade ago, says it is in fine shape.
I know, this was before the whole site was declared a national landmark. Sadly they ripped the Wye out, But the land is still clear. as for the track, It is all just buried under 55 years of dirt and grass. Its amazing that after 55 years most of the faculties are still intact. The loss of part of the yard is not a huge deal, as long as the Wye is intact to turn locomotives, the yard can be worked around, since it will only have to deal with a small number of passenger trains, rather then a booming coal industry

hey if the duragno and silverton invite rio grande 315 for railfest so should the eastbroad top.Ummm...
Why would this happen? And under what circumstances?
it is like tweetsie in north carelina when tweetsie opened in 1957 their frist steamer was ET&WNC 12 now tweetsie 12 over the years tweetsie bought ex white pass and yokon 190. it is like EBT #15 just owned by a another railroad. in 1990 the tweetsie had their frist ever ghost train event and had ever fall. the engine pull the tweetsie ghost train is 190. and tweetsie has a railfan weekend it is just like the old easty just in a different state.Ummm...

it is quite alright. and DP, Strasburg is not that great, been there before, the train tickets are a joke, first come first served even if you buy on the internet. The museum on the other hand is great. Strasburg cannot restore any more Locos, there space is completely filledWell, that answers my final question. I had wondered if the old philosophy, "Ignore them and they'll stop posting" would be of use for dpfan1 to get him to stop posting nonsensical rambling BS. These latest posts, where he's been REPLYING TO POSTS HE ALREADY RESPONDED TO, shows me that he must be either 1) a n00b, 2) a troll, or 3) an epic n00b.
In other words, my advice at this point: dpfan1 will continue to be annoying and post obnoxious posts until he is banned. May as well have some fun in the meantime.
dpfan1, you are awful. Your inability to read hinders the usefulness of a forum, which is to learn and spread useful information about anything, in this case trains. We do not have a problem with the fact that you would like to see certain engines run together. We do not have a problem with the fact that you think Strasburg is the best place ever and they should restore every mainline steam engine to service. We do not have a problem with the fact that you think Johnny Cash's "Hurt (by Johnny Cash) is the best music video ever and should be played on loudspeakers on trains pulled behind mainline steam engines that Strasburg has restored.
But for the sake of our sanity, just stop posting.
(And yes, I am aware of the irony of criticizing dpfan1 for posting stuff unrelated to the forum topic when this post had nothing to do with EBT. I apologize in advance)
