Dynamic brake sound

I was running two of my BNSF dash 9's tonight, and had to do some dynamic braking. In about notch 3 or so, I thought I heard the dynamic brake fans running. Was I hearing things, or did they get added?

I think you may be hearing things Danny! (Maybe) Justin is certainly known to insert features and not tell anyone! Perhaps he will chime in and let us know.

Weren't they in the RBMN beta engines? I thought I heard them before, but it is hard to tell.

only the engines with start/shutdown sounds have dynamic brake sounds too as part of the package. none of the default style sounds include this as it is pointless to try and overpower the revving of the engine in my view.

When you are running a 16,000 ton loaded coal train downhill, on a 11 mile long -1.87% grade, making several service brake applications, keeping the speed under 15 mph, in CAB control, with the Dynamic brakes on either half, or full, position ... it is easy to imagine hearing the dynamic brake howl that is on the prototype ... it gets so uncannily real ... as train handling in CAB mode is most difficult.

This is why I love Trainz ... it takes you there !

Probably for the same reason that every bell in a consist goes off when you switch the bell on.

Justin, is it possible to add the compressor sound to the dash 9's? I was watching one today, and you could really hear that thing.

compressor sounds already exist as part of the sound library.

Really? It is quite loud and distinctive in game. I think it might even be on the JR GEs built into Trainz 12. I've never heard the sound on a real Dash 9, but I assume it is the same as on the P42s I've been around and the JR sound is identical.
