Driveable Vehicles

How can I make cars, trucks and buses on Trainz driveable? I've seen alot on the DLS using Cyberstorms vehicle superadaptor.

Yeah, you can make vehicles drivable. You just make them as you would make an engine. The only drawback is that, to run them, you have to place them on either invisible track or road that can act like track. So you don't have the versatility of a car. They only follow whatever track you put them on, whether it be invisible or a road that acts as track.

How can you add a drivable superadaptor ?

Placing invisable track on roads (using the hold shift key) works great. Driving in the car in cab mode, you can pass, and drive like a maniac weaving in and out , and trying to avoid oncomming road traffic, is really fun.

Now how do you attach a drivable super adaptor, and the likes, to static vehicles ?

What I mean is how can I select a car (for example Fire Car 2 by Thunderbird54321 on the DLS) and fit the Vehicle Superadaptor (by Cyberstorm. Available on the DLS) to it so I can drive it on invisable track (or any kind of track).

I'm sorry, I've not used the Superadaptor. It must be some kind of script though, or a means to change the config file of a car. I can look at it tomorrow evening and get back to you if the question doesn't get answered.:)

Download the Drivable Superadaptor kuid2:78193:950:1 and open it for edit in explorer. Included is a readme text file on how to use it. Unfortunately the writeup is for TRS2004 so some of the details don't apply for 06 or 09, but the concept is ok. The kuid file for the adaptor includes 4 different mesh files for different size objects that you want to drive. They are:

mesh vehiclez_body/superadaptor1m.IM for people
mesh vehiclez_body/superadaptor5m.IM for cars
mesh vehiclez_body/superadaptor15m.IM for boats
mesh vehiclez_body/superadaptor50m.IM for ships

To use the superadaptor open Content Manager (CM) to download the adaptor and then use CM to clone it. This will create a new adaptor with your kuid id. Then open your newly cloned adaptor for edit in explorer and edit the adaptors config.txt file to find this part:
mesh-table {
default {
mesh "vehiclez_body/superadaptor5m.IM"
auto-create 1
effects {
vehicle {
kind "attachment"
default-mesh <kuid:68787:25139>
att "a.attach_090_ground"
}
}
}
}
Edit the default-mesh <kuid:68787:25139> line to change the kuid number to that of the vehicle you want to drive.
If you need one of the other size meshes listed above, edit the mesh "vehiclez_body/superadaptor5m.IM" line to the desired .im mesh file.
Save the file and commit.

I've noticed with some of the drivable buses available on the DLS that they go clickety-clack, just like a train, all the way down the road. The wheels do spin and turn corners though, so that's a plus.:)

Hi Everyone, I use the adaptor and it works very well but on some vehicles they are a bit low on the road and look as if they have no wheels. Any ideas on how to bring them to the right level.

Cheers rawhide
