Hi Everybody.
First let me say that I have no connection with Nuance who produce Dragon NaturallySpeaking software only as such I have been an extensive user of Dragon since version 6 and now have version 11 their latest update.
This morning quite by accident I found out that the voice and dictation commands used in Dragon could be used to control Trainz. It immediately came to mind that persons with disabilities such as Parkinson's disease or repetitive strain injuries etc. who normally would not be able to use Trainz because of the extensive use of keyboard and mouse would with the assistance of Dragon be able to engage in our hobby.
Following the discovery I used the Dragon software to start and control several consists between various stations with very little problem so the actual driving would be no problem to persons with the above disabilities.
I have not tried to use surveyor with the software, but as Dragon NaturallySpeaking can be used to control the desktop by using your voice to control the mouse movement adapting Dragon to control the mouse in surveyor may not prove too difficult.
I have posted because I would be interested in the communities thoughts on this especially if anybody knew of a person with disabilities who would benefit from my testing. I would strongly not advise anyone to buy the Dragon software at this stage as this is a comparatively expensive product, but I would be prepared to carry out some more testing and provide the results on the forum or by direct e-mail for any interested person with disabilities or who know of any person with disabilities whose quality of life could be improved by being able to become involved in our hobby.
If anybody other user on the community has any version of the Dragon software I would be interested in their results when tried on their system if they care to give it a go.
With thanks
Bill
