Downloading

Can someone give me a " step by step " jargon free run through of where to find downloads and how to get them onto my computer. I am new to TRS and prob to old to be playing with computers !! but I love railroading. I have the first class free ticket supplied with the game, I have registered etc and am running it on Windows Vista. Thanks

To find out launch the game and it can be found in the bottom right-hand corner.

If you are using TRS2006 have you upgraded to SP1?

You use CMP to download items from the DLS.

Yes I've put the SP1 pack on, but I really need an idiots guide to what to do..... think of me as a Martian and you have to explain what to do, assume I no nothing and you'll be about right !!!

Step by Step

After going through the same learning curve that you are starting dzien50, I summarized the steps that you ask for. They are in post #10 at http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=9759 on this forum.

If you go there, then look at a couple of posts further on in the same thread - CMP may appear frozen when it is not.

dzen50 - notice that what Dave says in the preceding post is for use with 2004. As a former 2004 user, right after I installed 2006, I went directly into the DLS, found a couple of assets, put them in the DLS download helper and initiated a download - it opened the CMP, and the assets downloaded.

BUT, the next time I tried that, CMP bombed -- and so, basically, did my computer. I had to restart, etc.

Just to avoid confusion...

Thanks Dick, I did have some early problems but with the various advice I was able to sort it out and now download ok
