Ich finde es ungehörig das von der Planet Auran Download Station nur noch mit First Class Ticket contents heruntergeladen werden können obwohl ich für das Produkt Protrain Perfect 20€ bezahlt habe und nun soll ich noch für die Download Station bezahlen? das sehe ich nicht ein. Im Handbuch steht das wenn man die Seriennummer bei Planet Auran registriert immer kostenfreien zugang zur Download Station bekommt und jetzt hat Planet Auran auch noch meine Sereinnummer aber Planet Auran schob eine Technikfehler vor der inzwischen schon 6 monate andauert. Planet Auran scheint wohl eine neue Geldeinnahme gefunden zu haben freeware objekte jetzt als Payware anzubieten. Ich habe auch keine Lust mich mit PayPal oder einer Kreditkarte rumzuärgern:(:n::'(

04/06 users need to purchase a FCT ... as they are unsupported versions.

But is seems that the continuing backlash against N3V regarding access to the DLS is alive and well.

Wrong section and wrong language. As has been stated many times over the last month's, the amount of users these days who do not have FCT access way out numbers the slots available on the free servers. Check the DLS section of the forums for further derails (er, details) :hehe:

Unfortunately, as your version is unsupported, you will need to either buy a FCT or a later version of Trainz (a supported version, which is currently Trainz Classics or later)

The reasons for the FCT requirement is due to the server issues that have happened, and that TRS2006 is a few years old now, and hence no longer supported (I do not know of many (if any) companies who will support versions of programs that are more than about a year old)

An FCT/Support lifecyce rant

I would have thought that by now all these debates over the FCT and the dropping of direct support for older versions of Trainz had been flogged to death. But obviously I am wrong.

Some people seem to think that free technical support from the developer (free for them but expensive for the developer) for a software product that was purchased for around $AU50 or less should go on for their lifetime. I would suggest that these people go and visit the support web sites for major software products (e.g. Adobe Products at http://www.adobe.com/support/products/enterprise/eol/eol_matrix.html). Many companies, Adobe included, have a 5 year limit on support for their products and that often includes paid support. There is one person I know who still has Windows 98 on their computer, should Microsoft maintain free technical support just for that person (and perhaps a handful of others)? The only industry I know of where manufacturers are legally required to maintain a lifetime supply of spare parts (but not free support) for legacy products is in aviation.

I also thought that everyone by now knew that the DLS is available free for all registered users of Trainz - you do not have to buy an FCT to access it. An FCT gives you priority access and better download speeds. How much does an FCT cost for heavens sake? When I purchased my plasma TV, my computer and my new washing machine, I also purchased the extended warranty/service options that were available for them - each cost a lot more than the FCT. For Trainz I also purchased, for a number of years, the 12 months FCT subscription. Last year I purchased the "lifetime" FCT subscription which, it turns out, will expire sometime in 2036 but I do not plan to be around by then anyway - the inevitable Global Warming, caused mostly by the hot air coming from the FCT/support complainers, by then will be most unpleasant. The purchase did not break my bank and was less than the purchase cost of the Trainz 2010 I was using back then.

Now if only I could translate this into German ... I now regret the fact that I avoided languages at school.

If you only download and run routes, you will need a FCT.
If you want multiplayer, probably going to need a FCT.
If you're like me and enjoy just building routes, just use built in objects or objects from third party sites. Way to many quality objects out there from stable sites. I see no need to rely on the DLS. I have about half a dozen routes I've built I hope to release this fall. I'm in the process of reworking them with assets not on the DLS since the policy change. They will be for TRS2006 and probably TS2009.
No big deal really. I took over 40GB of content and whittled it down to 5GB. All NOT on the DLS and readily available from third party sites who have been operating for a while. I have one route besides my own, EK3, installed. When I build, I make sure I don't use content for that route that came from the DLS.
The DLS is not the end all, be all. If I could find a way to get the Jointed Rail Utah Belt units I bought, along with their freeware rolling stock into TRS2006, it would be all I use. Working on all the Conrail units I bought now.
Being on dial-up, I learned a long time ago to just download the maps, tracks and ground textures for routes. If it looked promising, I reworked it with content I have.
Policy is policy. Nothing you can do. You are far from stuck with a program like this.

Is that true? It was my understanding that access would be cut off for registered owners who do not have TC or later - this guy is showing TRS2006 as the only one he has registered, if I understood the announcement correctly he is one of those who must buy either a first class ticket or a later version of the game to have any access to the DLS.

You could be right - I do remember some announcement along those lines. It could well be that free access for older versions (older than what I do not remember) of Trainz will no longer be available on the DLS. However, Trainz 2006 is now 5 years old and even Adobe have stopped issuing updates and providing support for their products released 5 or more years ago.

Ich find es auch Unfair,aber das Leben ist halt so geworden....Geldgierige IDIOTEN!!Aber ich finde einen grund dafür nähmlich:Wenn mann ein FCT kauft dan Kann mann auch finden was für Contents mann noch braucht.und mann kann eine verbesserte version finden Falls Auran updates gemacht hat!!!!
