Download Purchased Content

Remember the Withered Arm
Straight after the latest release install, after the Database Repair thingy had run its course, I have been prompted to re-download all my purchased content. However, I have a number of corrupted files and no matter how many times I have re-run the downloader, the same old files remain corrupted. Is there a fault at N3V's server end, or if it has been caused by miniscule interruptions to my 100Mb broadband, is thee any way I can purge these files and get my 'puter to re-download them please?

Bump.......this is still happening. Is the server to the UK working properly? Virgin Media report our broadband is as smooth as silk!
Is there an alternative server I can direct TRS2019 to please?

Everything downloaded and installed by the Asset Downloader is stored in the Packages folder of your TRS19 install. To uninstall something, delete the packages of the same prefix like sc473xxx. Then do a database repair to remove them from the database. Lastly, download the packages of the same name again. Downloading the packages without deleting them first can cause more than one copy of the packages to exist in the packages folder. You can see them by looking for ones that have an underscore and a number at the end like sc473f_1. Having more than one copy can cause all kinds of problems with the program.

Are you absolutely certain of that? I just checked my assets folder and I have a few directories with "_0", "_1" and "_2" added to their names but their contents are different. If they were duplicate folders then I would have expected them to have the same contents. I would be very reluctant to delete them on this basis. In any case, I am not having any issues with any of my DLC assets.

To get rid of sc473f you delete everything that has sc473f in the name, that includes the _1 _2 and so on as they are all part of the same DLC install NOT duplicated folders. After deleting DLC from the Packages folder a Database repair is required so that the DLC is removed from your local database before attempting to install it again.

There have been issues with same DLC being in both the Packages folder and the builtin folder which will cause problems, that was I believe sorted out however worth checking.

The names of the folders with endings like _1, _2 are the names of the downloaded file. Each part of the packages has a different name, the one without any additional character (like sc437) being the main file. You can see the name for each part of the package by hovering the mouse over the names in the 'Asset Download' window.

Just in case, worth mentioning that if downloading large amounts by Wifi you can often get corruption problems, safer to use ethernet.

Also maybe a DNS cache issue, Command window run ipconfig /flushdns There have been reports of Virgin having DNS issues.

Trying real hard not to violate my NDA but it is my understanding base upon being a beta tester of DLC that those files are not part of a normal install. You should never overwrite packages, delete the packages, rebuild the database and re-download. In comparing what packages should be present for a DLC item versus which ones are there. Files with _1 etc are extra.

Conflicting advice here. Bold emphasis is mine.

-snip- but it is my understanding base upon being a beta tester of DLC that those files [_1, _2, etc] are not part of a normal install. -snip- Files with _1 etc are extra.

I am not having any DLC problems with the _1, _2 folders in my install.

Thank you for the suggestions - just got in from work so I'll give your ideas a whirl (Flush DNS, delete the sc*.* files and start again) in the morning.
