Download DatabaseS ?

For years I have only used the spreadsheet like display of a database that supposedly contained all the new, or adjusted, creations of various authors. There was this other thing called a Download Station that seemed geared more toward the an educational experience with very simplified routes and things. More like a place where upcoming artists could publish and gain critical input.

Recently, I decided to look at that database again. It now contains a mixture of what I saw before and the products of well known authors displaying high quality gems. My problem is which, or both, should I look to for quality items to enhance Trainz?

Also, if I choose to download from what is called Download Station are the involved items placed in my Download Folder. That seems to be the case. I avoid the FTP. Then finally, are there two distinctly separate databases, or are the displays just different? The answer seems obvious but.....

The Trainz Database, where all your installed, downloaded and created assets (including routes and sessions) are stored, can only be accessed by Trainz itself and Content Manager (or CM). CM will give you a "spreadsheet-like" display of all the assets. In CM you can set up filters, which are search commands, to control which assets will be shown in the rows and you can add, remove and move the columns that are shown.

CM will display both the assets you have installed and those that are available on the DLS, depending on which search filters you use. The contents of the DLS can also be shown using a web browser - click the Download Station link at the top of each forum page - but this is no longer supported for downloading via FTP and its display is not as complete or as useful as using CM.

For a guide to using CM, mostly describing the meaning of the entries in the Status column, see the Trainz Wiki page at https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Understand_Content_Manager_Status_Labels. This will also show you how to set up and save specific filters.

Well you are right.:D Do not when I developed a prejudice against the Download Station
Shows how they can blind you to the truth. A universal observation.
THANKS
