Do you use Drop Box?

I am about to confess to an error.

Drop Box did put the wrong date on the invoice which confused the matter but that is all that they did wrong. I had forgotten that I had upgraded my account last year and tried to upgrade it again and the references in the account were related to that last year purchase. Neither Drop Box or Paypal had transferred any money.

Mea culpa

I could buy a 2TB drive for less and move or store it wherever I want. Or use the free Cubby which gives you 5+GB, and they don't try to force you to download unnecessary software, either, that does what your browser does.

That said, thanks for the head's up, narrowgauge. Many if not most cloud-oriented services are a major ripoff, and sketchy billing practices don't help.

I use the freely available Microsoft One Drive. It gives me about 100GB of free space which is more than enough for the stuff I share.

I've used Mediafire for years 50GB free storage If you use adblock plus it's painless plus sometimes Google Drive 15GB, I have a free dropbox account, as it seems to be required for some recent downloads I don't rely on online storage though as a victim of AOL's XDrive that vaporised everything before I had a chance to shift it............. I just use online storage to share stuff.

Clouds can disperse, vaporise or just blow away........

Thank you for your replies. I am aware that there are cheaper/free alternatives but I needed Drop Box for a specific family reason and when you consider that it actually costs $2 a week it is not a significant charge.

A point you should consider, free web hosting is the one most likely to disappear without trace, they have to get their income from somewhere, and I have often wondered whether the free uploads are there to be picked through for useful snippets of information. Obviously, they won't get much of value from Trainz related uploads but think of all the others who would upload anything without thinking of security, especially those who would use cloud hosting as an extension of their mobile phone..

Colour me paranoid, but you don't get something for nothing.

As far as my problem is concerned, if it is not sorted to my satisfaction, I will go elsewhere.

TANE Support Zec is using it to let those who have DVDs installation errors have replacement Setup files for their corrupted ones and it is FREE for downloaders !

I should have posted this before. As you can see from my edited first post the situation was partly due to to a mistake on my part.
